Marc Foster wouldn't have been my first pick. Martin Campbell was excellent because he brought that elegance of the original with the ferocity of the newer generation it was looking to reel in. Foster's approach was actually not bad at all, in my opinion. It just needed some fine tuning. I thought the idea of making the pacing, fights, and movie somewhat frantic was appropriate for the mood of the film, considering Bond was hellbent on vengeance and most of his actions; if not all, were compulsive and self centered. So I guess you can take the good with the bad when it comes to Solace. I still liked it very much but it wasn't casino royale by any means. To an extent I agree. If the combo can work well, why nay say? You'll never know? Just Scorsese doing Shutter Island (it looks like a horror picture, or psychological horror) and I've heard people upset because he's done only gangster films and dramas...if the shoe fits wear it, especially when you have someone like Mendes who's an exceptional director (besides Jarhead imo). I'm actually happy to hear this news. I was worried they were going to hire some turd like McG or Francis Lawrence to do this.
