Gerry’s movie 300 was filmed in 2005 and released in 2006. He spent months and months prior to filming working out, and then a month before the shooting some unbelievable workabouts, and had to workout all during the shooting schedule. Gerry doen’t have the type of body that naturally goes to muscle. In his early years he was lean and lanky and to help that he’s always worked out. But that can get to you once in a while and you really want to eat the meat and potatoes and deserts and not get up at dawn to get to the gym. So give the guy a break. He’s busted his butt to stay in shape for every movie he’s done and deserves some down time. And, for all we know, he may be putting on some weight for his next film, Coriolanus with Ralph Fines. Or he my just be taking a break before getting into shape for that one. This guy has done over thirty movies. The most versitile actor around today.
With a guy with that much talent and with such a great sense of humor, and so dang bright, I sure ouldn’t kick him out of bed.

The training they went through for 300 was nothing short of absolutely insane (and subsequently not possible to maintain all the time if you’re not totally dedicated to doing so).

The result above has happened due to the fact he’s let the muscle drop without upping cardio to shed the fat off, but on the up-side; should he start training again muscle memory will kick in and he’ll beef up in no time.

Hugh Jackman doesn’t always look “Wolverined out” in his other roles but he stays in shape, regardless.

Gerard Butler doesn’t take good care of his body. You don’t have to have an extreme killer workout to stay fit. He wouldn’t have the body he had on 300 but he would certainly look better than this.
