Jackson talks Hobbit and Bluray Rings Delays

With news that The Hobbit has been delayed the fanbase is getting a little itchy. So when Peter Jackson was cornered, the topic of the day seemed to be delays. PJ chimes in on the topic.

Filmonic quotes Jackson on the Hobbit Filming delays:

Nothing has changed as far as I am concerned. Somebody wrote something on the internet and a lot of nonsense happened. You don’t want to believe everything you read on the internet. We were due to deliver the scripts and be shooting sometime around April and now I think I said in an interview we were shooting in June. And somehow people are now saying the film is delayed. As far as I am aware, they are not delayed at all. I am not even sure when we are going to start shooting…we are delivering the scripts just after Christmas they’ll be finished and we’ll be shooting as soon as we possibly can. But you need a certain amount of time to finish the pre-production.

I can see how an original announcement would sound like a delay. But it appears him saying April, then later saying June just meant that it wasn’t firmly in April, and its apparently not firm on June either.

But Jackson does address a real delay and unfortunately he doesn’t have the answers there. The BluRay release of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy was slated to happen just in time to fill my stocking for Christmas, and its been delayed.

Well, it keeps changing. I am not the best person to ask about that believe it or not as I am not in charge of the Blu-ray, Warner Home Video is. I believe it is scheduled for sometime next year. They keep changing the date…I don’t know why. I’ve seen the Blu-ray as they sent it to me to approve and I looked at the film and it looks fantastic on Blu-ray but I don’t know the date.

For the love of Zod, why are they teasing me like this. Ever since my Extended DVD got lost in the move, I have been looking for a reason to replace them.

Guess I will have to wait.

    1. In short there are 4 or 5 major ideas in The Hobbit:

      Bilbo is eating cakes
      Gandalf Marks his front door
      Some dwarves show up
Bilbo runs out of the good ale
      They have an adventure

It’s good, you should read it before the movie comes out.

  1. It doesn’t sound like Jackson has been changing his story to me. He said they were going to turn in the script in April, and that they planned to start shooting in June. Two months between final script and the beginning of shooting sounds like a pretty reasonable turn-around time on a movie this big to me.

  2. yeah be very careful. This is a double dip situation. I wanted to buy the trilogy too of course but found out that it’s just the theatricals. The extended (the one we all actually want) won’t be coming out for a while. WHICH SUCKS. so just be ready to buy this ting twice. I’ll just netflix it save the money and spend it when the extendeds come out.
