While the world moves forward assuming Disney’s acquisition of Marvel is already done, there is still a vote to make it all final and it will take place on the 31st of December.
There’s a pending merger, but the shareholders at Marvel has to OK the day, and that hasn’t happened quite yet. But that vote will happen on December 31st, and it’s widely expected that Disney won’t walk away empty-handed.
There is a growing mockery online that Marvel will be candy coated and the “the Disney Treament” and somehow the House of Mouse will be sticking their collective noses up Magneto’s back entrance and alter everything about the books.
Disney is just in it for the money and it has repeatedly been reported that they have no plans to change how Marvel runs their business. If anything I think this merger is good news.
Marvel spread their properties out, but once they formed their own production house, it hasnt been a secret that they would love to have their properties come back home but contracts would prevent that. As long as those studios continue to create a revenue stream with them, they will retain rights.
Perhaps the power of Disney will be able to wrestle the properties away from Fox and Sony and unite all Marvel properties under one studio? Actually, I can’t imagine them forking over the ransom it would cost to pry those properties from Fox and Sony.
But its an assumed end that this propsed merger will happen, and Disney will own Marvel establishing distribution and profit ownership over all Marvel films. But I have faith that they won’t want to fix something that isn’t broken.
Expect a Hannah Montana cameo in the next Spiderman movie =P
Why? doesn’t Sony own the movie rights to Spider-man? If anything we should worry about her appearing in Thor, Captain America, The Avengers, or any other Marvel film.
Pwned!
Yeah, all this blind assumption that Disney is going to try and blend its stars and properties into Marvel products is just nonsense.
Disney has no reason to WANT to do that.
good tings mon……..good tings!
I hope this dose not slow down the production of future Marvel movies.
They have already said Marvel will continue as planned. Its not broken and Marvel is doing well financially. Thats why Disney wants them.
This way Disney gets to distribute the DVDs and keep the profits.
There is no reason to think this will delay any Marvel releases.
Rodney,
Can you think of any effects it might have on Marvel?
The only thing I can think of is deeper pockets and wider distribution but maybe I am missing something.
