When i meant when i said that non readers will be confused is:

The books made sense. The movie does not. So people who only saw the movie will say "Wtf? How come voldemort cant just go up to Harry's summer home and set it on fire?" or "Wtf? How come you can just enter Hogwarts, spposedly the most protected plac on earth besides Azkaban, KILL the Headmaster, walk out and have no fghting between the wizards??"
This was not answered in the movie, and those are only two of the basic questions vieweres might ask.

The movie has to stand on its own, yes, i agree.

Which is why i said, that it doesnt matter if you read the book... according to what happened ON THE MOVIE ALONE, none of it made sense. NONE of it.

So I suggest they spend more time explaining the main plot of the movie instead of showing why Hermione likes Ron.

If the book is awesome, and the movie sucks. There is NO EXCUSE.

"The movie should stand on its own" is EXACTLY why they should explain everything in the movie. Without having people going to the book looking for answers.

But this movie does NOT stand on its own. Thus, they should have explained it a little more like the book did.

NO EXCUSE! They needed no script! They already had the story WRITTEN ON A BOOK and they knew every person in the world APPROVED of this story, its almost impossible to fuck that up, and they did.

Hey, Hazzy. You said:

"And, Jake… you're the majority here… most people LOVED the movies and agree with you… but Harry Potter fans are mostly disappointed at how superior the books are."

While I do understand what you are getting at, and while I respect your opinion, I disagree heavily, for a couple of reasons.

For one thing, I've met many Harry Potter fans who love the films and books. I'm one of them, and so are my family and friends. So you can't say all Harry Potter fans hate this movie.

Plus, you are using your opinion of the film in the wrong context, and what I mean is you are judging the film just based off its connection to the book. You haven't mentioned anything about the film itself that has no relation whatsoever to the book. All you've said is "It will confuse non-readers," which is still bringing the book back into the picture.

I could go on for days about fucking pissed I was when I saw Eragon, because the whole film cut moments of the book out that I loved. But when I saw the film again, I really enjoyed it as a film.

Film should stand on its own, no matter how incredible, amazing, or ingenious as the original source material is, and basing you're opinion on how faithful the film is to the book doesn't do any justice to your opinion on the film itself.

I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, I'm not saying you have to change it. But keep that in mind when the next film comes around.

Romance was the most important part? These where the most important parts:

::Snape points wand at Dumvledore::
"AVADA KEDAVRA"
and:
"Harry, these are the objects you must collect and destroy, now you know what to do in book 7 once im dead" (something they didnt include n the movie at all)
Not to mention the 70 death eaters fighting every student at Hogwarts?

Since you dont understand what mystery im talking about after 3 tries, Ill bring out the finger puppets:
Harry **waves left finger puppet** finds a book that belongs to the Half Blood Prince **waves right finger puppet** the mystery is him finding out who this character is, and while he does it... the mystery opens up as he realizes the book is filled with dark magic... so whoever the owner is must be either a death eater (or as Ron points out) maybe Voldemort
Another thing is them trying to figure out Voldemorts weakness, theyre trying to puzzle it out and THAT is also a mystery, everytime they get closer to a clue they realize how impossile it is to kill this guy

"Why did the plot need more fight scenes?"
Because the fight scene leads into Charlie becoming a werewolf, Dumbledore dieing, the reader ralizing Draco has a good side, and that Snape is apparently bad
How was there no fight scene? There where DEATH EATERS IN THE SCHOOL! Where was the staff??? here was Dumbledores Army??? Where was Harry??? Everyone in school was NOT asleep, they where there, i have no idea how Death Eaters infiltrating Hogwarts would NOT end up into a fight scene.
Im not an action junkie, im just pointing out that this move needed (needed) 3 more fight scenes to make sense.

It was bad because it didnt make sence!!! If you never read the books and you watch the movies, you would say 'Wow, this FULL of HUGE plot holes!!"
And, I am talking about HUMONGOUS plot holes! Like, i dont get how a movie director would ever let that shit slip. The book covers everything so well... but the movie does nothing to explain anything. How can a PROFESSIONAL director not take care of this?

But this is MY completely irrelevant opinion, did you enjoy them? What did you think? Do you think they should be improved? And how?
And, Jake... youre the majority here... most people LOVED the movies and agree with you... but Harry Potter fans are mostly dissapointed at how superior the books are

What? UP is like- the perfect movie (in my honest opinion)

Is this a joke? Harry was freaking pissed! And everyone else looked very shocked. It's not Casablanca but the actors knew what they were doing.

So what if you've read the book 78 times? If anything, what you should do is watch the movie 78 times, because what we're talking about is structure, and how HP6 can be good as an adaptation in it's own right.

And you keep bringing up action, romance, and mystery; and yet you want as little romance as possible, when that was the biggest part of the book in the first place!

Besides, there were barely any instances of action in the HP6 book to begin with, and I still don't see what elements of mystery the film could have implemented that you keep talking about. You can't just say, "There should have been more mystery!" It's still a wishlist.

Only TWO romantic scenes? Are you kidding me? That would mean romantic subplots only two acts long, and one act per scene. That would suck, big time. And romance is one of the biggest parts of the book in the first place.

I highly doubt that decapitating Lavender is a good idea.

Why did the plot need more fight scenes? Why? WHY? You're not answering the question!

Look, I'll say this for about the third time now: I'd like to talk about what could have made the movie better sometime, but that's not what we're currently discussing. I asked you why it was bad, but you're not trying to explain to me why it was bad at all. The statements that something is bad and that something could have been better are very separate.

UP could have been better. A lot better. Is it a bad movie? No. Just because something could have been better doesn't mean it's bad, so your argument is failing miserably.

I don't see any arguments for it being better your way, anyway. So far, you've got: shallow two-act romantic subplots, "there should have been more action" (though you've yet to explain why), and "there should have been more mystery"; and you still haven't explained to me in any way what that means.

Jake youre not getting any of the points im making, whatsoever. Here:

In the movie NO ONE was either shocked or depressed at the fact he was gone, all they did was rudely infiltrate his office in honor of his memory.

Its not a wishlist, as someone that read the book 78 times I can honestly say there was more suspense, murder and mystery in the book then romance and comedy. Unlike the movie.

I said it needed more mystery, because I hoped you knew what i meant, i really dont want to explain why the HP6 book had mystery, trust me, it did.

You liked the action? No shit! Thats awesome! But although i still think thats amazing, i still have to point out that having 2% of the books action (whether it was cool or not) is still a 2%... thus a fail.

Again you read my point and had no idea what I was saying.
I said two ROMANCE scenes with them, not two OVERALL scenes with them, EXAMPLE:

In X3 they turned a 30 minute scene that explained why Pyro hated Iceman into a 2 secound scene of Pyro looking at Icemans family portrait wth jeaouls rage in his face. They didnt rape the audience with 'Pyro hates Iceman" knowledge.
HP6 did, they kept bringing up the stupd teen romance back AGAIN AND AGAIN.

If Lavender would have been decapitated 2 minutes into the movie, the book would have ended the exact same way it did.

Yes, it needed more fight scenes. No, it didnt need to be like Transformers. I dont see how i can make that any simpler.

Im not saying why it should have been for my own entertainment. Or else i would say 'Make it a porno!"
Im trying to explain that since the book was a masterpiece, and the movie was a piece of shit... maybe they should have taken my approach.

I'm super excited for the next two (last two films) and while I had my problems with HBP I liked it as a whole. The fact is it's terribly difficult to adapt the Potter books because there are so many subplots going on, so you need to pick and chose. My two real problems with the last movie was not enough of Voldermort's past because that is key to Harry's teaching in order to destory him and like said above Dumbledore telling Harry what horcruxes they're looking for.

I think the love triangle angle was well played, but could have been scaled back a little bit. I didn't find Dumbledore's murder nearly as moving as in the book, so that was a sad failure, still the kiddo who was unaware he died had quite the crushing surprise. The raising of the wands at his funeral was not unlike a candle visual and a nice touch.

There is a lot of standing around and talking in the HP books, so these things must be condensed and sometimes cut out to save time and boredum.

I've always had to watch the HP movies as if I never read the book because to point out every change drives you mad and makes the enjoyment of the movies less.
