Owen Wilson to give voice to Marmaduke

In a world where we are planning a movie based on Viewmaster are we really surprised that they are adapting a single panel syndicated newspaper comic strip into a full length feature film?
Well Owen Wilson has signed on to give voice to the classic mischievious great dane Marmaduke.
Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio’s script has Marmaduke navigating a volatile Mutts vs. Pedigrees turf war, wooing the purebred of his dreams and overcoming a fall from grace.Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy play the humans. Wilson joins Fergie, Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Damon Wayans, Marlon Wayans who supply the voices to the film’s various critters.
This will fall nicely in that category of the live action Garfield and Chipmunks movies on my shelf as my kids are likely to just fall in love with this and I will be forced to endure its repeat viewings.
A turf war of Mutts and Pedigrees? Can’t be worse than Beverly Hills Chihuaua right?

I loved Beverly Hills Chihuaua
As much as I could careless about a Marmaduke movie I can totally see Owen Wilson as his voice.
I’ve never liked this comic. I just don’t know why.
I don’t think we get Marmaduke in the UK. I guess it’s the equivalent of our Fred Basset comic strip?
Sort of, except Marmaduke doesn’t talk, while Fred Basset does.
Good luck NOT making this look like a blatant Scooby Doo live action movie ripoff
Good luck making a comparison that doesn’t end with “and the star is a dog”
Its closer to Garfield than Scooby. The story is going to be about social classes with breeds of dogs and leans more towards Lady and the Tramp than anything.
Nothing at all related to Scooby.
Oh so the story is a ripoff of Garfield and the look was temporarily borrowed from Scoobes?
I pathetically fail at finding a physical difference between this dog and Scooby Doo.
Yeah James… you should go ahead and google things before replying. Maramduke – been around much longer than Scooby Doo.
Ugh. What makes so little sense to me is that Marmaduke DOESNT TALK!!! AT ALL!! Not like Garfield, not a little like Scooby, and not via ‘thought bubbles’ ala Fred Basset!!!
But, Wilson is joining such ACTING LEGENDS like: Fergie, George Lopez, and two of the 136 Wayans brothers! WOW!!!
I can’t wait for this movie to come out so it can lower the collective IQ of America.
