Michael Bay Talks Transformers 3

Its trendy to bash on the Transformers movie, but I for one really liked them. Yeah they are littered with faults, but overall I find them to be insanely entertaining and I am looking forward to the next.

It’s no secret that the money trucks are not done backing up to the Bay mansion, and they are just going to keep going until they do. And in a hidden clip on the BluRay of Transformers 2, Bay talks about his vision for a third film.

Cinematical shares:

But judging from this candid DVD extra, even Bay thinks Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen veered on excessive, and he’s promising to scale back when he tackles #3. As we speak, Bay is combing through the Transformers lore that Hasbro has sent him and pondering who or what will be smashing crap up in another installment. Just the way he says “Transformers lore” makes me want a story centered on Bay exploring ancient catacombs to uncover the missing Transformers arcana with Megan Fox as his sidekick. (She’ll be packing a Ph.D in Hasbro lore because she’s not afraid to be smart and sexy.)

As Bay ponders how to go sideways from Revenge (his words, not mine), he does have a few ideas in mind. He wants more Bumblebee, and to explore the powerful relationship he has with Sam. He wants more characters, and more emotion. He wants it to be “more undercover” and “less exposed” which might be difficult for our transforming pals when they destroyed the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Check out Bay chatting up his ideas for TF3 as an unlockable content on the BluRay:

Despite all its faults, one thing you can count on with Michael Bay is that he is listening to the fans. After the first one they said, less humans more bots. And we got it. The fans cried out for Devastator, and we got it. The fans wanted more action and we got it.

We also got “The Twins” and Leo. Well nothing’s perfect. I still liked the movie for the most part and I have faith that Bay has the best intentions even if they don’t pan out.

I like the idea of Bay reeling it in. It will be hard to keep the Robots in Disguise angle as the Decepticons are not shy about showing up in full force and now we have two films of Bots making a mess of planet earth with their conflict.

Tone it down, let us learn their names before chopping them in half. And THEN have a big fight.

I just hope they don’t do Unicron, as that would be the opposite of reeling it in and I can’t see it working. And no dinobots unless they are cars or some vehicles that turn into dinos.

I bet the next one will have an asian robot… with testicles.

  2. cloud720 says:

At this point why do the dinobots need to be cars? The world already know of the transformers, do all of them still need to be in disguise?

  3. mike says:

    cant wait for t3

  4. James says:

    Unicron WILL be in it.

    Unicron WILL be godlike.

I seriously get a hard-on from thinking about HOW EPIC Unicron will be on screen.

They even showed Unicron in this video twice.

If you KNOW how Michael Bay thinks, then youll KNOW this fucker wants Unicron in it.

He thinks like me, he gets orgys from shit like “Galaxy Sized Planet Eating Trasformers”

  5. chris...the real one says:

jeebus…i dont give a damn about transformers anymore because of bay….30 mins of that shitty movie didnt need to be in there…& were just added cuz bay is hack.

I enjoyed the hell out of the first Transformers. With that being said, the only good thing about Transformers 2 are the AMAZING sfx! Everything else is crap. (i.e. how many times do I need to see Sam’s dog going at it? I also didn’t need to watch Sam’s mom eat a pot brownie then run amok around campus embarrassing Sam. Sadly, the list goes on and on)

  6. Mikano94 says:

I just hope they tone down the humor in the next one, NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE A JOKE!!

  7. alfie says:

no one bashes on them because its trendy.

i like the first one but that second one was a crowded, overloaded messy, obnoxious loud boring piece of garbage. so bad on so many levels.
you can clearly see when you compare the two films that speilberg had way more involvement with the first film and then let bay go and do whatever he wants on the second.

the first one has a sense of wonder about it. it at least tries to have some kind of heart the second one is bay at his most unleashed.

I’ll be happy if I don’t see a repeat of the “walk into the Smithsonian in DC, and walk out the back door into a desert” goof. Holy crap I just couldn’t suspend disbelief for that.

    • Rodney says:

You know they find Jetfire at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center on the Washington Dulles International Airport grounds which is misnamed in dialogue as the Air Space Museum.

He walked out onto the flat grounds surrounding it and he “Space Bridge” teleported them to the desert right?

  9. matty says:

What I want, above all else, is a little focus.
The film doesnt have to be 3hrs long. It doesnt need 60 robots. It doesnt need 8 comic relief characters. It doesnt need 5 different sub-plots. It doesn’t need to jump to a different camera angle every 0.3 seconds.

    Focus, Michael. Focus.

Now THAT is the voice of tomorrow…..

Ok, that sounded melodramatic–but hey, Rodney, see what he said about wanting “more characters” to explore and stuff? I agree with Matty…..Bay being Bay needs to FOCUS on a few characters rather than go cumballistic with a melange of a thousand…..

I like how he wants to explore the relationship b/ween Bumblebee and Sam but, hopefully, he won’t mess it up and make it Bambi or something…..

  10. Ifaz says:

All right, first of all FUCK everyone who says anything against Bay. The first Transformers was one of the best action movies of last 10 years. The second one, maybe not but it still had some good things in it. And I think the 3rd one is going to be the best of the franchise.

    @matty: well said man.

  11. Toshio says:

I hope we get to see Transformers sex scenes next

  12. Geno says:

I think the way the movie should go for the third one is the toll that both The Decipticons and Autobots are taking on Earth. Maybe see the United Nations no longer allow refuge to any transformers and force them to leave? So while the Autobots are being hunted down by Earth’s military, they also have to stop Megatron from siphoning all the energon from the natural resources around the globe. Also bring in Shockwave to cause some major damage and wreck shit up!

    • Rodney says:

The government already introduced the idea that the Autobots presence was causing the problem and told them to leave.

And forcing the Decepticons to leave wouldn’t be very effective since they really dont have to listen.

  13. Gigan300 says:

Heres what I want out of the third film:

An actual story in this film. The first film had a weak story, but the second didn’t even have one.

    No more robots with testicles.

No more wasting characters(like Arcee, The Fallen, Devastator, Scorponok).

No more juvenile humor. Seriously the humor was more dumb than “Meet The Spartans”.

Don’t make Starcream a pussy in this one. In the first film you see him beat the shit out of Ratchet and Ironhide, but in the second he was just a pussy.

Megatron bows to NO ONE, especially not some weak villian like The Fallen.

  14. Lawrence says:

I want the Dinobots for TF3 period. Michael Bay knows this and the fanboys want Grimlock and company. And more dramatic transformations for each bot, not the obscure bots we saw in TF2. Forget Unicron. I’d say more bot factions for each side , such as the Aerialbots and Omega Supreme for the Autobots , Stunticons on the Decepticons. Please make Soundwave relevant again in TF3, I want him fighting the Autobots with his minions, the way he did in those G1 cartoons. Laserbeak needs to appear in part 3.

  15. Johnson says:

As much as i’d like for the Dinobots to happen i doubt they will, the best i’ll hope for is a character named Grimlock that speaks with Grimlock mannerism’s.

  16. Gigan300 says:

Another thing I would like to see improved in the third film would be to bring in the original color scheme for the Transformers. This isn’t something I had a problme with, but A LOT of people complain about not being able to distinguish who is who. It worked for Megatron, Optimus, and Bumblebee, so why not the rest of the Transformers.

    • SlashBeast says:

All the decepticons pretty much look the same. Which is understandable, seeing the vehicles they’re mostly based on. But, couple that with the distractingly complex moving parts and everything and you’ve got one giant, indistinguishable clusterfcuk.

  17. Lawrence says:

I want Soundwave going mano y mano with any of the Autobots plus having that cool voice by Frank Welker voicing him. Laserbeak is long overdue for an appearance. I hope Michael Bay thinks about having that bird Decepticon appear in TF3 as a bot spying on the Autobots.

  18. Bamkazaam says:

i think bay should do something else then come back and do 3. that or make a trilogy.

  19. VIc De Zen says:

I actually enjoyed both movies and I’m looking forward to the next one. I can do without that annoying roommate character from the second movie though.
