Dino D-Day Half Life Mod should be a Feature Film

Now normally we don’t talk about the video games until they are being considered or even rumoured to be made into a feature film. But this is one upcoming game that I think would make a GREAT adaptation to a movie just because of how silly it is!

In the vein of Turok and Call of Duty comes the twisted bastard child of Nazi rape and Jurassic Park. Dino D-Day!!

Forces of Geek shares:

Currently in prototype mold in the form of a Half-Life 2: OB mod and scheduled for 2010, this first person shooter will cast you as Sgt. Jack Hardgrave, a renowned paleontologist who thought he put his career on hold to go to war until Hitler resurrected dinosaurs and unleashed them on the Allies in 1942.

When the Fuhrer’s monster army saw battle for the first time in North Africa Hardgrave was on the front lines – nearly getting eaten alive by beasts he spent his life studying.

Now this premise sounds just crazy enough to make for a fun video game that combines the love of shooting Nazis, and the opportunity to barefist punch a TRex in the honker!

Check out the trailer:

I love the retro style of the wartime posters and encouraging slogans of that age combined with the utterly rediculous idea that Hitler could have turned the tide of war if he only had dinos.

This Half-Life mod looks awesome. But I hope it gets made into a real movie. That’s cinematic gold just waiting to happen!!

I actually agree to some extent, this does have the potential to be cinematic gold. I would be shocked if a film version turned out to be anything more than complete garbage though. Mainly just because the type of filmmaker who would generally take a project like this one on would most likely be inept at their job and it would end up being nothing more than an entertaining premise filled with crap. If by some miracle a talented director, writers, and crew were attached to this, then I say “hell yes”. Otherwise “hell NO”!

I played the prototype mentioned. Great concept, boring execution. But then again, it is only a prototype.

I’ve never even heard of that game mod but it actually looks really good. I’m more interested in playing this than to watch a movie about it =)
