The original had such amazing dialogue, message, and overall tension/excitement without the major battles or catastrophe scenes (like the new one showed to have) and to me, it seemed out of place to push it over the boundary. Hence, why I never saw it. I'll get around to it eventually...I guess? I loved the original so much and I never got to see the remake of Day the Earth Stood Still actually.
