A new clip of the ultimate disaster movie 2012 is online. Ever want to see what it would look like to see all of California slip into the sea?

For some reason the first 4 seconds repeat then its all sorts of smashy splodey goodness!

This just looks insane.

  1. thematticus says:

ay what you want about the plots of his movies, but old Roland Emmerich sure knows how to blow stuff up.

    • TJ says:

I couldn’t agree with you more. Screw plot in this case. for 10 bucks i’m more then willing to sit through 2 hours of this. Hell get rid of the story and just have a 50 minute effects reel, I wouldn’t really care. This just looks like one hell of a night at the movies with friends. Probably even better drunk aye?

  2. AARON says:

Saw it last night. this thing looks AWESOME

  3. Rod says:

Emmerich movies all start to look the same, but I’m a sucker for big destruction movies like this.

  4. Jeremy K. says:

I’m a sucker for John Cusack, so I will most likely check this out when released. I just hope it doesn’t end up like Knowing, *spoilers* that whole alien thing was ridiculous */spoilers*.

  5. BobaFett says:

    Could Michael Bay be outdone?

    • Jeremy K. says:

Hahaha. That makes me wonder if people’s opinions would change had the trailer said “Directed by Michael Bay” on it.

  6. Matt H says:

If they’re finally flying while LA is falling… why are they still flying low and avoiding buildings the way the car had to? Just go higher?

    • Rodney says:

He didn’t accomplish the right speed before lifting off, which makes it harder to climb.

      Just how planes work.

    • bernardg says:

yup, they took off not in the proper speed and runaway length. So it take much harder to climb quickly. Especially in such bad weather

  7. bjon86 says:

This looks like a fuckin JOYRIDE!! Gonna be a good time in the theater.

  8. THANK YOU FOR THIS.

Im totally going to avoid this movie now. Thanks for the heads up, guys.

  9. probitionate says:

    LMFAO!

    And I peed myself, too.

Lord, love a duck; this is what we’ve come to, a sensory-overload-cum-apocalypse-cum-3D-goofest. Nice.

What’s next? We actually get to see God in Heaven? Only…only it’s Heinlein’s ‘The Book of Job’, where EVERYONE is wrong about their beliefs?

But yes, I’m sure it’ll be fun. All that extra butter on my bucket…

  10. Tavil says:

Im not holding my breath. But i really hope this will be a good movie. The SFX look insane.

  11. RAF says:

I don’t know if it’s just me, but a lot of the special effects look very cheesy to me. Like the truck exploding and that donut rolling down the street. I don’t think is going to be very good, but I am still going to check it out.

  12. Hiland says:

Yeah at around 4:10 to 4:14 in the video the special effects look terrible! Yeah the truck and donut looked bad also.

  13. Iam Wright says:

Everytime I see this thing, I can not stop myself from nit picking the crap out of it. The car driving through the building should be the best example for not going to see this film… unless you are looking for a good comedy

    • Dave says:

I very much agree. Yea I get it it’s a destruction film (which I LOVE) BUT!! those parts looked corny. I hope the whole film isn’t like this cause I plan to go see it

  14. dax says:

    that looks insane!

i hope it’s 2 hrs of destruction and calamity.

  15. Matt S says:

My brother and I could not stop laughing while watching this, poor Cusack. I love him, I wish he’d get a decent movie. I’ll see it (if my brother can get me in free) but I’ll be getting dirty looks for laughing at it’s faux-dramatic situations.

    • WholeBlack says:

Well, if you consider a movie teaming him up with Craig Robinson decent, then you might be in luck. Check out HOT TUB TIME MACHINE. Comes out next year.

  16. David Lopan says:

If I had a marketing job, I’d be fired. The posters would say “From the Director of Universal Soldier”. But seriously, aside from independence day, I can’t think of another movie from Roland Emmerich that I enjoyed. 10,000 BC was laughable as was Day After Tomorrow. This didn’t look any better. I’m with Hazmat on this one… I’m definitely avoiding this as well.

  17. Tavil says:

I Actually liked Day After Tomorrow. was probably my favorite movie so far by Emmerich.
Sure their are a lot of things i would have liked done differently in it story wise but overall i liked it.

  18. Obi-Wan Dawson says:

I was pleasantly surprised by that clip. It made me feel like I was 15 again and I was excited for ID4! I was actually clinging to my chair watching that! Job well done Rolland!

  19. Lawrence says:

Wow. It’s so frighteningly real. I’ll check it out in theaters. Probably get it on DVD when it comes out

  20. Lawrence says:

That Governor in the clip sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

    • Rodney says:

I am sure that is intentional. You never get a clear look at him and they don’t name drop, but it is California.

      • Lawrence says:

I’m sure someone will inform Gov. Arnold about him being parodied / imitated in this 2012 film. Maybe he’ll smile at this or get pissed perhaps, when John Cusack tells his wife (Amanda Peet) that “the guy’s an actor he’s reading a script!, when they tell you not to panic, that’s when you run!”.. does it imply that Schwarzenegger isn’t doing his job as Governor of California?… lol

    • Tavil says:

I guess they forgot that he would not be governor in 2012. lol

  21. Mario says:

come on guys, this movie is to disconnect the neurons an enjoy a 2 hour trip of massive destruction, chessy acting and very laughable dramatic lines. I think we have a future drunk movie classic

  22. Austin says:

Looks slightly worse than GI Joe. Maybe a little better than Day After Tomorrow (where they had that wonderful scene in which the main characters had to outrun…wait for it… the COLD! Now they have to outdrive…THE EARTH!).

Meh. Emmerich hasn’t ever been any good.

  23. Still says:

Austin..hahaha that scene in Day After Tomorrow has to be one OF THE DUMBEST SCENES i’ve ever seen in any movie..its soooooo baddddddd…that scene alone makes Day Aftr Tmmrw 1/10 in my book

  24. townes says:

but why must everything go down, the second they escape… I mean come on! its ok 3 time, even 13 times – but not 100 times in a row!
it just looks soooo cinematic… :/

    other than that: WOW

    • Alex says:

BECAUSE from millions of people who try to escape there are some who CAN escape and some of them escape closely, simple math! AAAND the story involves exactly those who escape pretty closely cuz thats intense and entertaining otherwise it would be boring if they would have left California an hour ago right? – just that simple Mr Townes !!! if ya dont like it go and watch ur asian movies^^ in which dudes cut water drops with their swords^^ it looks cool but same argument u know – by the way i havent seen ya for a while how ya doin in würzburg?

greet ur brother from me^^ talked to him bout a movie idea 2 days ago^^ we gonna built up a whole new project that will be nothing like the last movie we did

      servus

      Alex

    • Alex says:

By the way: HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!!!! The visuals are mindblowing, i mean Transformers is mindblowing in a whole different way these are environmental VFX and they are OH MAMA! Emmerich must be pushin those VFX guys like shit.

Pure Eyecandy!! cant wait to see this

  25. dave says:

    This is a comedy right?
Had me in stitches anyway. Love the donut roll.

About as much real tension as paint drying.

  26. Ifaz says:

Like 1/3 of the comments are against the movie and I am definitely not one of them. I dig John Cusack, and the visuals look dope. Can’t wait to see this one.

And, Rodney, Will u please write something about how ‘Jennifer’s Body’ was. I need to hear it from someone else who knows about movies. I haven’t seen it yet.

    • Rodney says:

Neither John nor I have bothered to see it. It didn’t make our radar.

And considering it openned to a $7million weekend, it didnt rank high with others either.

  27. Lawrence says:

This might haul in 80 to 100 million dollars for the opening weekend. Might match the buzz of ID4 back in 1996. Or maybe people are tired of disaster flicks churned out by Roland Emmerich. But the visuals are impressive and stunning. It looks fantastic here in youtube. What more in a big screen like IMAX.

  28. Ty says:

I hope it isn’t that fast paced. I mean…I understand how quickly they needed to get to the airport…but still…kinda annoying that it just jumped to the scene of them in the plane.

    Excited nonetheless.

  29. DirkAnger says:

Wow. That was friggin awesome. Exactly how I envision a disaster movie should be and not like that weak ass Day After Tomorrow. This just made my must see list.

  30. Rafael says:

Looks like a really fun movie. I’m surprised something like this didn’t come out during the summer.

  31. Gigan300 says:

Looks like another Roland Emmerich crapfest to me. I think I’ll call this “Godzilla Part 5″.

  32. kraize835 says:

The difference between this, and The Day After tomorrow is simply the title.

  33. Still says:

well Roland Emmerich directed The Patriot..so I give him props for that

  34. robertwolf says:

The visuals look insane, but the acting kills it for me.

  35. Meli says:

I am so over the promo spots for this movie…it looks completely awful.

  36. Bill Hicks says:

And all that’s left is Arizona Bay.

Oh this movie is going to be so gloriously bad. I can not wait.

  37. Martina says:

As a long time professional pilot, and one that has dealt with bad weather and insanely intense flying situations – I’m laughing out loud at the flying scenes in the trailer. Oh please …

Could you kindly give at least a bit of try at being realistic. You’ve got the nutty high budget, so use it. Get some unemployed experienced pilots on crew, and have them do some continuity work for you.

And such an insult to the audiences. Are we movie goers really that dumb to buy into this movie?
