Jackie Earle Haley kills Green Lantern Sinestro Rumours

Jackie Earle Haley is rumoured to be on top of the studio’s wish list to play Sinestro in the Green Lantern movie. But as with many of these rumours, they get squashed fast when someone finally gets a mic in front of the source.
Worst Previews says:
Collider caught up with Haley on the red carpet of Spike TV’s 2009 Scream Awards and asked if there is any truth to the rumor. “I was very shocked to hear that. I heard about it the same way you did,” said Haley, adding that nobody has called him to come in for an audition.
While I am not against the idea of Haley as Sinestro, I just don’t see it. Just something isn’t a match. Maybe I would have to see him in the red makeup first.
But unless this rumour turns into negotiation talks with Haley and the studio, this pretty much ends here.

I thought Jackie Earle Haley was an actor.
But he’s already said he’s not been approached. It’s wishful thinking.
I suspect a fanbase are going to be outside of the house with pitchforks and a blowtorch and no bubble gum when they see this comment

There is a chance that you might end up as Freddy Kreugar.
1) Jason Issacs – stick a moustache on him & he’s perfect for a Sinestro that could go toe to toe with Reynolds.
2) Daniel Day Lewis – it’ll never happen but damn would it be nice.
3) Hugo Weaving – definitely’s got the look for the part & would be able to do it in his sleep but it might just turn into a purple Agent Smith if he’s not careful.
Yeah, I think I’ll go for Jason Issacs too.
Wow, some really great suggestions there! Jason Isaacs would be insane! He is one of those rare actors that pulls off arrogant/self confident really well. He would do the Sinestro role proud I think.
Hugo Weaving as Sinestro … by a landslide.
He’ll ratchet his career up a notch further with this villainous role that’s tailor made for him.
Agent Smith and the Lord of the Rings role plus being the voice of Megatron all contributes to Weaving being cast into Green Lantern’s mentor-turned-arch-enemy. The fanboys will love it, the mainstream audience will love it as well.
The thing about wanting to cast Hugo Weaving is that it’s just so obvious.
