Favreau not Directing Avengers

Marvel is heading full on with Avengers as the climax to this geek foreplay. But its a good thing that the guy who assured Iron Man’s success will be directing.

Right? …. right?

/Film quotes the Fav:

They’ll have to [find a different director], because I’m not going to be available. It’s something I’m being the executive producer on, so I’ll definitely have input and a say. It’s going to be hard, because I was so involved in creating the world of Iron Man and Iron Man is very much a tech-based hero, and then with ‘Avengers’ you’re going to be introducing some supernatural aspects because of Thor. How you mix the two of those works very well in the comic books, but it’s going to take a lot of thoughtfulness to make that all work and not blow the reality that we’ve created.”

Dammit. Looks like Fav is not taking the big comfy seat, but he is still overseeing the deal as Executive Producer, so at least he will get a say.

And that say is my hope that this train is still on track. Next stop, Iron Man 2 and Thor!

    1. Dude they (“First avenger: Cap” and “The Avengers”) come out like a month away from each other.

So theyre already back to back, since hes directing Cap i think hes perfect, since those two movies are so attadched together already

Im GUESSING he ends up frozen at the end, and in the very last scene he is unfrozen and as he comes out of the capsule he first sees Nick Fury….then Thor steps in, Ironman walks in as well, and Dr Banner is like chilling at the end of the room (lol?) a future totally different from the past with world war 2

      That is my best guess

Joe Johnston has a sick record as well, all the good Star Wars movies, The best Indiana Jones movies

And he directed a bunch of good movies as well like Jurasic Park, Hidalgo, The Wolfman…and i forgot all the others

  1. I’m going out on a limb here, but since Incredible Hulk helmer Louis Leterrier didn’t get the Cap’n America gig, is it more than likely he’ll be one of the first in line to direct Avengers? That would give him a Cap’n story to direct, and The Hulk still might be involved.

  2. What he’s talking about, that’s exactly why I would -never- want to see Christopher Nolan’s Batman involved in a Justice League film or anything else super-powered. Sometimes the realistic takes on some of these comic book films don’t mix well with more fantastic elements. With Iron Man though, I don’t think it will be as hard, assuming they approach Thor right.
