Daft Punk will be in Tron Legacy

Daft Punk is a pretty groovy band and a perfect fit to be scoring Disney’s Tron Legacy, but a soundtrack credit is not going to be their only involvement. Apparently the French duo will also be appearing in the film as well.

Get The Big Picture says:

the groundbreaking French duo’s responsibilities don’t stop with the music. “They were in the movie,” Wilde says without adding any further details. That’s to be expected, I guess. Big movie and all.

Still, Wilde admits that Disney thinks having the band on board lends a certain credibility to the film (was it lacking in that department?) and that there are already plans to use Daft Punk to help promote the film down the line, closer to TRON’s December 2010 release.

Its very likely they will be very minor characters or sidekicks, but likely will feature in posters or some sort of commercials – in some dayglow blue jumpsuits.

I look forward to seeing how this shapes up!

Why would they think the film lacks credibility…and..um…how would having a band act in a film make them think it would apply said credibility?

Not saying I’m not excited..just think their logic is a little out of place.

Um, I doubt they will act, if you know who Daft Punk are they will probably Don their Traditional Costumes (If you don’t know what they look like then just google them!!)

      • Ty says:

I don’t really care how they look. Again, just don’t understand the logic behind “Give more credibility”.

        Love their music though…

I would have preferred to have BT do the score for the movie. He has already done some award winning movie scores and is a amazing musician that would have fit well within the look and mood of the film.

I think having them do the score adds some cred, having in the movie, might just take me out of the moment a little bit. As i remember how much i love their music and awesome they are.

Im pretty sure they are the same french guys from Air btw. Thats my story and im sticking with it.

What? No tirade about singers/musicians acting in movies?

    • Rodney says:

Until we hear what role specifically they would play I have nothing to say on the subject.

If Daft Punk are the stars of the film… certainly I will have an issue with that. Why not hire an actor etc…

But at this point it sounds more like they will be glorified extras or mild supporting cast. Otherwise they would already be pimping them as featured attractions in the movie.

“Daft Punk is playing at my house. My house.”

  6. Shaun says:

It could be that they are in some way linked with Micheal Sheen’s night club character perhaps.
