Bill Murray talks Ghostbusters 3

Bill Murray was cornered at the premier of Fantastic Mr. Fox and got talking about Ghostbusters 3.
He says that its all talk right now and will believe it when he sees it happening, and he would consider doing it, but it has to have a great script.
I agree with Bill. There really shouldn’t be another “just to make one” and I hope that it has a great script. At least we know he hasn’t completely boycotted it.
However I wonder what quality level is required for a “great script” from the man who was in just as many great movies as he has had stinkers.
Well at least we can say he will do anything once, but not twice. He seems to be allergic to sequels. Garfield and Ghostbusters are the only sequels he has ever appeared in.

Doesnt the ghostbusters game count as the spiritual 3rd ghostbusters movie?
Could be good, could be bad. The thing is, that when a long-awaited sequel is announced, there is always hype surrounding them. Summer of 2008 was a perfect example of how hopes can be both shot down and fulfilled. 2008 saw both Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as well as The Dark Knight. It’s safe to say that by the general movie community, The Dark Knight was better recieved than Indy 4. It’s all hype. That’s why I don’t let myself get excited. I just watch the movie, don’t get my hopes up. That’s why I loved Indy 4 so much, and I even consider it to be better than Raiders of the Lost Ark. (Please don’t hate me for saying that.) The Dark Knight a different story for me, even though I loved it, both it and Batman Begins, to me, well always pale in comparison to both of Tim Burton’s masterpieces. It just depends on how you look at it.
whoa. whoa. whoa.
KOTCS better than Raiders? I consider KOTCS inferior to Raiders, but that’s me. My mind is officially blown! ;-)
Agreed, Methos84, agreed.
I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say that they felt KOTCS was better than ROTLA, but hey I thought both were fun.
Was Murray not great in Zland?
My concern is the script because the guys writing it might be two of the writing staff on The Office, but they also wrote the POS Year One…so, yeah…count me as uber skeptical for a good script.
as much as i love Ghostbusters, and i do LOVE ghostbusters with a passion (got tons of merch and whatnot)…I would perfer the studio just go ahead and push forward without these guys and fart out a horrible sequel (or stand-alone film, animated or otherwise) rather than sit here and get my hopes up that the 4 guys and Reitman can ever get off their collective asses to do anything substantial beyond flapping their lips about it.
Fans of the series deserve SOMETHING after all this talk and waiting. If they don’t want to go through with it, just SAY SO and stop jerking it. Move forward with a new cartoon series, animate movie, maybe another game…SOMETHING. They need to just make up their minds already.
“However I wonder what quality level is required for a “great script” from the man who was in just as many great movies as he has had stinkers.”
He does regret doing Garfield.
Garfield 2 anyways.
If he regretted doing Garfield he wouldn`t have done another.
Yeah,I’m skeptical too. I was dissappointed with Ghostbusters 2, so I don’t know about a 3.
It would be a good time to do it now considering all the recent hype and momentum with Bill Murray and Ghost Busters hahaha.
I don’t want to spoil anything for those of you who have no clue what I’m talking about.
Let’s go bill, you can do it. Because the ghostbusters movies are history in the hollywood films.Your character is very importan in the film.
The real ghostbusters are the best, and not need new guys ghostbusters.
PDT: what’s up the soundtrack “Ghostbusters 3″.
I liked the idea for Ghostbusters 3 that was being kicked around a year ago…the one where they were transported to Hell, which actually turns out to be an exact copy of New York City. But honestly I’d be up for whatever plot gets Murray to come back, because there’s no point in making another movie without him.
much of that script was used for the video game, which is pretty cool.
Cool, I didn’t know that. I’ve been meaning to check out the game but haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’ve tried to keep myself unspoiled as far as the story, so I wasn’t sure whether it was a new story, a retelling of the first movie, or some combination of the two.
