Theron and Smith back for Hancock 2

I have to say that for the most part I did like Hancock. Once it came to the big reveal as to who he was (and somehow requiring hot suburban soccer mom to go vamp) things kind of fell apart but for the rest of it, I was entertainted.

So rumours of a sequel made everyone wonder why, then we were reminded that Will Smith = Money. Then people wondered if we would see the original cast joining the inevitable Will Smith. Well it seems that Charlize Theron is on board.

/Film offers:

Not long ago we heard that a sequel to Hancock, the goofy, sometime fun, sometimes just dumb superhero flick starring Will Smith, was almost certainly a go. Questions lingered, however, primarily with respect to the cast. Would Will Smith return? What about Charlize Theron? According to director Peter Berg, the answer to both questions is yes.

The story of Hancock was more about his redemption for me. Seeing him adjust from a jackass with a shred of heroic responsiblity to a true hero was cool.

The “reveal” was too out of left field for me. Nothing lead up to it and it kind of left a sour note. But the story was done.

I will have to wait to see what the sequel is supposed to be about before I get excited about a sequel that right now I don’t thing we even need.

And what about Jason Bateman?

Let me guess, he’s going to get a comic sidekick.

—Light spoilers if you haven’t seen Hancock—

    Dude,

I knew Charlise’s role from the trailers!!! There’s one scene where she was in her outfit they show briefly. I even remember saying to friends, “are there more than just him” after I saw the scene. There was no reveal, I was waiting for it.

As for sequel, they did kind of change the part I liked “has been superhero that’s an a-hole” to more traditional by the second half.

However, they do have a lot to explore in a sequel.

I liked the first so bring on a second.

Hancock was a crappy film. I doubt they’ll be able to clean up the mess they made with the whole mythology garbage in the first one, so I guess I’ll be skipping this one. Shame, Big Willie Weekend has been getting worse and worse as the years go on. He used to be untouchable to me, but t some point, I just got sick of his “Aww Hail Naw!”.

How you can enjoy this film is beyond me. I liked the 1st 15 min when he was a ass whole than in turned into into a shitty Superman film.

Prepare for more gaping plot holes and absurd plot twists to put The DaVinci Code to shame.

Oh well, another movie which will no doubt please those who enjoy commericial movies which either lack substance or make little sense. I seriously doubt I will watch it as wasn’t that impressed with the first one either.

The first act of Hancock was really fun and different, but from then on it turned into a train wreck. I would rather see third installments to Men in Black and Bad Boys first. I’ll might go see Hancock 2 if they actually have a GOOD VILLAIN this time! I don’t want to see bank robber with a hook as the main bad guy.
