Steam Delivers the Best Star Wars Game Collection Ever

Posted by on 17. 09. 2009in News Chat

I am an unappologetic Star Wars fan. And part of the fun of loving the movies is buying the toys er.. collectibles and participating in the excitement of it all.

The most bittersweet part are the games. Well not ALL the games. The MMO sucked pretty bad, as well as a grand majority of the other Star Wars licenced properties. Then there was the Jedi Knight series. What started with a new character, became expanded univese canon with chapter after after chapter of Kyle Katarn growing from Mercenary to rogue Jedi Knight.

Steam is my new best friend. We were always close, but now I have a love for them that I just can`t put to words. Mostly because I will be playing the greatest Star Wars games EVER published. Best part is that they have no medichlorians or JarJars.

Right now Steam is offering ALL of it for $20. Not kidding. And you know what? They are not even paying me anything to pimp this. I just love the series that much.

Star Wars Dark Forces
Star Wars Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight
Star Wars Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight – Mysteries of the Sith (expansion)
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast

This is a hell of a deal. I have already bought mine!

I was always partial to the “Tie Fighter” and “X-Wing” series. I just never got into the Jedi Knight stuff.

Oh yeah the Star Wars space sims were amazing too, with the right joystick set up it was awesome. I remember when Xwing vs Tie Fighter came out, the leap forward in graphics was astonishing. It changed overnight from solid-colored Xwing shaped polygons to actual convincing images. Ahhh, the Golder Years of Lucas Arts.

I’ve never played these games before, maby now I will.

  3. Joey says:

These games kicked ass back in the day. The only one in this set I haven’t played is Jedi Academy, but I was very into the first Jedi Knight game. It had quite a vibrant online gaming community also which was fun when choices were limited in the ’96-’98 time frame.
In my opinion, these games helped push the FPS genre into a new era. Before Dark Forces the only other popular FPS games were Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem (which my parents wouldn’t let me play), and Doom 1&2. I had to pitch the game to my friends as a Star Wars Doom, after they heard that they were sold. And I remember Dark Forces 2 was cool because it gave you the option of 3rd person view which helped with the lightsaber.
I could go on and on about these gems, but let’s just accept the fact that they rule.

Jedi Knight is my favourite game ever. When I think about it the nostalgia rush I get almost knocks me out.

  5. Andrew says:

Knights of the Old Republic is officially the best Star Wars game ever. Just sayin……
Although I’ve never actually played the Jedi Knight series…..I may give it some thought…
And I don’t have Steam either!

Though it wasn’t included, I am a die hard Battlefront and Battlefront II fan. I also really liked the Jedi Knight games, but Battlefront is my #1.

Also, I too am an unapologetic Star Wars fan!

the battle front series was great. u get to play as the random storm troopers. they make u part of the most amazing battles like hoth. rogue squadron fell of the map. it was the weaker of the series

  7. Marc says:

Thanks for the heads-up…I may just have to get this. I got Dark Forces on PC when it came out, and trying to get the CD-ROM to run on my computer today is a major headache. I already have Jedi Outcast, but since I never owned the two direct sequels to Dark Forced or Jedi Academy, this is still a great deal.

  8. Andy D says:

I’d be sold on this if they included the ‘Mysteries of the Sith’ add on for Jedi Knight… That. Freaking. Rocked.

  9. Stormy says:

Eh, PC games. Wake me up when they port this collection to the 360.

  10. Kaneda979 says:

Wow, that’s sweet. Still not the end all Star Wars game pack for me, but none the less pretty damn cool. I played a few of the Jedi Knight games back in the day and liked them. I might get this, $20 aint that bad for all 5 games.

If anything it could help hold me over til The Old Republic MMO comes out next year.

  12. TigerClaw says:

Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy are the better of the series, The stories take place after ROTJ. :)

Plus Jedi Academy has fun saber battles, You can go into multiplayer servers that are all Saber only matches.

  13. Ryan says:

I agree, these games ruel. I’ve played them all and I can say that the story to action ratio is much to my liking. The saber battles in Jedi Academy are quite fun. I can not imagin playing these on a consol…

  14. Mladen says:

Only one I haven’t played all the way through is Mysteries of the Sith… thats the one where you can play as Mara Jade, right? Awesome.
Thats a great deal for $20

  15. Seanithanegan says:

If you haven’t played Knights of the Old Republic you’re missing out on a great Star Wars game.

Same guys who made Jade Empire and more recently Mass Effect.
