Point Break 2 Isn’t Happening

For a long time, fans have been itching for another Point Break. Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves’ surfer flick ended without much chance of a sequel, but fans wanted it anyways.

Well after a back and forth of on again – off again, it looks like Point Break 2 has officially switched back to off.

Latino Review spots:

OK, wanna know what’s going on with “Point Break Indo”? Nothing. It’s dead. Two as-good-as-official sources have just confirmed for me that the film has fallen over. It may get back up later, but at this stage it’s not happening and the attached cast have been freed up to work on other projects. Had a feeling this might have been the case.

I would love to see Swayze kicking ass and taking names but lets face reality. Swayze is sadly not in the best shape of his life, and I would be thankful just to hear the news that he is alive at this point.

I don’t need to see Point Break 2. As much as I loved the characters, the story is complete. The characters all show growth and change with a resolution that leaves little opening for more. I wouldn’t mind seeing Johnny Utah’s further adventures, but it looks like it won’t be Bodhi.

They could replace Swayze with Nic Cage and we could watch him and Keanu put on a Bad-Act-A-Thon.

I didn’t think Swayze had anything more than a cameo for the sequel, if that.

They should still make a sequel, but replace Swayze with Diesel and Reeves with Walker! What? It could work!

I wasn’t aware Point Break 2 was even a subject. What’s the point? Everything was said there. No need for a sequel, but besides few exceptions (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The God Father, The Matrix…) the only point for sequels is getting more money out of our pockets. Viewers wishing they will enjoy a sequel of a movie they loved. Most times it is plain fantasy. Like bringing back your school years going to a class reunion.

There was a point to the Matrix sequels other than making money?

I never saw The Matrix and said to myself “this story feels unfinished, I need to know what happens next!” Neo was kickass and would obviously destroy all opposition by the end of the first movie. They didn’t need to say anything else. They just wanted to make money…

So I guess you can cross off one more movie from your list ;)

(Though, in all fairness, I could add a few more. I’m not opposed to sequels if they’re good movies and many sequels have been, some even improving upon the first, like Godfather 2 and Spiderman 2).
