Meet Julius Andreas Gimli Arn MacGyver Chewbacka Highlander Elessar-Jankov

I never underestimate the power of geekdom and their intricate knowledge of government procedures. Take one Andreas Jankov for instance. He found out you can legally change your name.

bus driver/film fan Andreas Jankov has officially changed his name to Julius Andreas Gimli Arn MacGyver Chewbacka Highlander Elessar-Jankov.

“I wanted to show that it is possible to be serious and at the same time take the name you like,” said Jankov. “I wanted to see how far I could take it with respect to the number of names. I started thinking about this three years ago and it was approved in January this year.”

Yes, because that was the first thing I thought when I saw this champion of the socially awkward. He is serious. If his name was just something like Julius Andreas Gimli Arn MacGyver Chewbacka Highlander Elessar-Jankov, then I could REALLY take him seriously!

And yes, he did spell Chewbacca wrong. GeekFail

This is a lesson to you all… just like some tattoos, some things are only cool in theory. Some things that you think are cool in theory are not even that.

I think there is a public service message in this somewhere.

  1. He is proudly letting his geek flag fly, because he is a true geek, an outsider who is ridiculed for being different.

His mission is accomplished, he has taken geek back from all the geek-chic wannabees who are making fun of him in this thread.

  2. Wow, if this mans goal in life is to never get laid in his lifetime, then truly he has accomplished that goal. This man fails in so many ways. I’m a geek and I wave my geek flag high. But to change your name to that. Truly a sad day for all geeks around.

  3. Cannot believe that for such a geek (I mean, changing your name TO THAT takes GEEK BALLS OF STEEL), he misspelled Chewbacca. FAIL!

And yeah, the fact that he chose such a long name makes it look sort of…..well, silly (ok, silliER)
