Meet Julius Andreas Gimli Arn MacGyver Chewbacka Highlander Elessar-Jankov

I never underestimate the power of geekdom and their intricate knowledge of government procedures. Take one Andreas Jankov for instance. He found out you can legally change your name.

WorstPreviews shares

bus driver/film fan Andreas Jankov has officially changed his name to Julius Andreas Gimli Arn MacGyver Chewbacka Highlander Elessar-Jankov.

“I wanted to show that it is possible to be serious and at the same time take the name you like,” said Jankov. “I wanted to see how far I could take it with respect to the number of names. I started thinking about this three years ago and it was approved in January this year.”

Yes, because that was the first thing I thought when I saw this champion of the socially awkward. He is serious. If his name was just something like Julius Andreas Gimli Arn MacGyver Chewbacka Highlander Elessar-Jankov, then I could REALLY take him seriously!

And yes, he did spell Chewbacca wrong. GeekFail

This is a lesson to you all… just like some tattoos, some things are only cool in theory. Some things that you think are cool in theory are not even that.

I think there is a public service message in this somewhere.

  1. Daniel says:

Cannot believe that for such a geek (I mean, changing your name TO THAT takes GEEK BALLS OF STEEL), he misspelled Chewbacca. FAIL!

And yeah, the fact that he chose such a long name makes it look sort of…..well, silly (ok, silliER)

  2. thematticus says:

Only a man with a mullet that badass could pull that name off.

  3. OMG it’s the real life bus driver Chris Farleys’s charachter in billy Madison was based on….

  4. adrian says:

My name is Andreas Gimli Arn MacGyver Chewbacka Highlander Elessar-Jankov.

JULIUS Andreas Gimli Arn MacGyver Chewbacka Highlander Elessar-Jankov!!!

  5. Matt S says:

When I have children, remind me never to let a man named Chewbacka Gimli give them a ride to school…… unless they’ve been reall, really, bad.

  6. Meli says:

My daughter and I named our Netherland dwarf bunny Gimli.

This guy is ridiculous. Stories like this always crack me up.

  7. Brendan says:

You didn’t know you could change your name? I’ve knew that since I was a kid, ever since I wanted to change my name to T-Rex Optimus Prime.

  8. Simon says:

These losers always have that same goatee.

  9. Dragonslayer says:

What the fuck is one his face? Is this guy a bearded lady?

    That was so mean.

  10. Rob says:

Why is the yale student killing getting covered 24/7 on CNN while stories like this that have such a cultural impact get ignored.

    Politics….its all politics….

  11. Billy Hunt says:

What’s ironic is he looks like a Gimli-Chewbacca love child.

  12. The Shape says:

well now we know what happens when kids who eat lead paint grow up to be adults…

  13. Geno says:

Wow, if this mans goal in life is to never get laid in his lifetime, then truly he has accomplished that goal. This man fails in so many ways. I’m a geek and I wave my geek flag high. But to change your name to that. Truly a sad day for all geeks around.

  14. mykrantz says:

He is proudly letting his geek flag fly, because he is a true geek, an outsider who is ridiculed for being different.

His mission is accomplished, he has taken geek back from all the geek-chic wannabees who are making fun of him in this thread.

  15. mykrantz says:

However, misspelling Chewbacca completely negates my argument and makes him a wannabee asshat. :)
