Martin Lawrence signs for Big Mommas House 3

Seems Martin Lawrence must have reminded his agent that he had a job, because just yesterday we heard that Bad Boys 3 has been greenlit reuniting Lawrence with Will Smith for another chapter, and now we hear that Big Mommas House will be getting a third installment too!
Latino Review gives us the skinny:
The original Big Momma’s House made $173 million off a $30 million dollar budget. In other words, though they may be blasphemous words, it did District 9 business. Of course something like that can be sequelized. Big Momma’s House 2 was made for $40 million and grossed $138 million. Pretty good, but not the landslide that would make Fox clamour for a sequel.
Uh, I don’t know what he is smoking but even after the meager advert campaign promoting Big Momma’s House 2, $100million profit is still pretty decent.
That they suspect this senseless comedy of inappropriate sight gags and Jerry Springer guest social cliches might make them some more money is not a stretch. Apparently people (who also think fart jokes are comedy gold) want to see this and they are more than willing to offer up a wee budget for an expected healthy return.

I enjoyed the first…the second was crap, and a third would be overkill.

I was surprised that I liked the first Big Momma’s House, but the second was just a mess. We really don’t need any black men dressing up like old fat ladies (yes I’m talking to you Tyler perry). I would love to see Bad Boys 3. The previous one was the most mindless, ultra violent, tasteless movie I’ve ever seen, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

To me the Bad Boys series is the best and ONLY good work Martin Lawrence has EVER done.
Him doing another Big Mommas House movie is just further proof to me that he ran out of original comedy ideas a LONG time ago. All he’s got left is Bad Boys and Big Mommas House, and Big Mommas House is just him begging for a pay check…
Holy crap, why? I mean I undestand the whole ‘people buy tickets to these so we must make more of em’ but WHAT IN THE GAY?! It’s such a freak thing. I totally have to wonder (like most others here) – who watches this?

the only thing Martin Lawrence has been decent in is Bad boys, other then that he just plain sucks. His stand up routine is boring and only seems to be funny to African Americans

Bad Boys 3 I’ll be looking forward too. However, Big Momma’s house 3, not so sure on that one. I’ll watch it of course because I’m simply a movie addict, but my hopes aren’t high for it.
