I think Deadman and Lobo getting the go-ahead is probably a good sign. When Marvel started getting films made of their characters, they kicked it off with Blade, a virtual unknown. Once it did well, it opened the door for more characters.

Often the lesser known characters are easier to make into a successful, popular film for the exact thing Rodney describes as a drawback; they don’t have an extremely well established character. The writer and director can create something, and has a lot more room to move.

Is this going to be another “The Mask”? Because anybody who has read the original Mask comics knows that it, like Lobo, also played on satirising the ultra-violent comics of the day with a wholly unsympathetic psychopath anti-hero. And the movie, although reasonably okay, had to swap goofy antics in place of the ultra-violence to make the pg-13 grade.

So will we get a comedy Lobo played by Mike Myers or Jack Black? I’d say thats pretty damn likely.

Thats because I personally love Moonknight.

I think you should stop picking on me for that Rdney, you know hes my favorite character and you know how I feel about this already.

I love the the fact that he peels people’s faces off and think that Moon Knight would be badass movie. But never in front of The Flash and Aquaman.

I actually think the PG-13 rating is a good thing. In the comics, the writers used violence a lot as a crutch in place of actual storytelling.

This will hopefully force the people behind the film to rely on the story instead of over-the-top gore and violence.

Well, that’s true, but it’s still pretty awesome how well Blade did do for an R rated comic book movie. And I think it was only the 2nd one ever made. The first being The Crow.

I understand it’s all for more money, it’s always been that way, and will never change. It’s just that it’s a shame that just because Watchmen didn’t make a killing that it may be some times before we see another R rated comic book movie from WB, and possibly never again. When done right, R rated comic book movies can be amazing.

Oh well, at least there are others out there still willing to take the risk. Can’t wait to see Kick-Ass.

They decided ahead of time that it would be PG13 because thats where the money is. If they make it rated R they reduce their demographic of ticket buyers.

It is in part because of Watchmen. They made the movie and let the rating go where it may, and it limited the market that would go see it.

Blade would have made MORE money if it was pg13. It was the rating that kept more tickets from being sold.

Its always about ticket sales.
