A Christmas Carol Trailer Online

The latest film to take on the Christmas Carol is coming our way this upcoming holiday season. Today, a trailer has hit the net!

I don’t know how this escaped me, but I didn’t realize it was going to be all CGI. I was looking forward to seeing Jim Carrey as Scrooge AND all of the Spirits, but he is just voicing them. He will do a fine job, but this feels a little too much like The Polar Express to me, and that dampens my enthusiasm.

  1. Where are these people coming from that didn’t know this thing was going to be completely CG? I never heard anything different about this movie, ever.

Anyway, looks like it could be a good fun film, but really…we’ve seen it all before. Give us something different.

  2. Personally, I’ve really been enjoying Zemeckis’ motion-capture – for the lack of a better word – trend. Now, I wasn’t crazy about The Polar Express, but it was certainly worth watching a couple of times. I was absolutely blown away, though, by his version of Beowulf; it’s one of the relatively few movies that I’ve given a 10/10, just for sheer entertainment value.

Anyway, I’m really impressed by this trailer. This film is definitely now among my most anticipated ones of the remainder of the year.

  3. I’m a big big big big big big big big big big
fan of A CHRISTMAS CAROL and CHARLES DICKERNS STORY, so regardless how bad the movie is, at least I know the storyline will be superior !!!!

    WATCHING IT DEFINITLEY !!!!

  4. for a story that is roughly 166 years old that looked surprisingly fresh and interesting. i especially liked the part where scrooge is on the rocket cap of truth and it disappears leaving him to fall. definitely got my attention to say the least.

  5. I think it would have been way better acted. CGI just cannot reproduce the wide range of Jim Carrey’s facial expressions. Too bad. I loved him in The Mask and The Grinch. I am not thrilled about this movie. (How many Christmas Carol versions are we going to suffer? Fresh ideas anyone?)

  6. While the CGI looks amazing (and realistic), I too am sort of bummed the whole thing is CGI. I had known this movie was coming out for a while, but really hadn’t seen much about it (in terms of pics, info, etc.) until now.

  7. I don’t know…I watch the trailer and it doesn’t do anything for me. I have no intersted in this movie and it doesn’t look that good, in my opinion. Perhaps it is because I’m simply over Jim Carrey and don’t want to see him play Scrooge and voice the other characters.

  8. I didnt like Polar Express because of the animation style, at least this one looks better. Not sure if I will like it that much because I thought Scrooged with Bill Murray and A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart were my favorites of this story retold.

I think it would have been better if it was live action not CGI. Who would have not loved to see Jim Carrey in makeup again.

  9. I didn’t notice it was all CGI until the trailer either. The CGI looks great though. It looks like they still modeled Carrey for Scrooge. It also looks like they used MoCap so he probably acted it out as well.

Looks good from what I’ve seen. A Christmas Carol is probably my favorite Christmas story. So I’ll be looking forward to this.

  10. My iPhone won’t allow me to view the video, but I have a good idea about what you’re saying, and that Polar Express analogy definitely set the picture in my mind of how this film could turn out.

It’ll probably be a hit among younger viewers…but I guess we won’t have an overall idea until there’s more hype.

    1. Okay, took the moment to watch the trailer. It actually looks like it’ll have some funny parts (I think Carrey is hilarious), and that might be it’s saving grace if it’s just going to recycle the story again. My earlier comment still stands that we probably won’t have an idea of it’s success until we get closer.
