Natalie Portman Joins Aronofsky’s Black Swan

Darren Aronofsky is a pretty hot item right now as a director coming off his award winning film “The Wrestler” (a movie that I actually didn’t like… but I’m the only person on the planet who didn’t so if you haven’t seen it yet you probably should). A project he’s been working on getting off the ground for a couple of years now seems to have finally found life.

It’s being reported now that Natalie Portman has agreed to take the leading role in Aronofsky’s supernatural thriller project “Black Swan”

The good folks over at Bloody Disgusting give us this description of the project:

“Swan” centers on a veteran ballerina (Portman) who finds herself locked in a competitive situation with a rival dancer, with the stakes and twists increasing as the dancers approach a big performance. But it’s unclear whether the rival is a supernatural apparition or if the protagonist is simply having delusions.

I just adore Natalie Portman, and despite the fact that I wasn’t a fan of The Wrestler I’m a fan of Aronofsky, so this sounds really good to me. It’s been a while since we’ve had a decent supernatural thriller anyway, so I’m on board.

  1. Loved The Wrestler
    Loved The Fountain
    Loved Requiem for a Dream
    Loved Pi

    Can’t wait for this movie!
Aronofsky is by far my favorite director and this is awesome news.
Natalie Portman should be great too.

  2. She looks really gorgeous in that picture up there.

Haven’t seen much of anything from Darren Aronofsky, though I wanna see The Fountain.

    1. I didn’t like the wrestler and I don’t believe I have seen any other Aronofsky films to say if I like him or not. I liked the directing and acting of The Wrestler but the rest of the movie seemed dry. I do like Portman, she is my favorite actress. I especially liked her in V for Vendetta. This could be an interesting movie, I will have to hear more about it before I decided.

    1. I don’t really blame her for the bad acting in Star Wars. I bet it would be hard to draw up some great talent when your standing next to the hugh pile of suckage known as Hayden Christensen. Plus, I also hear that Lucas really rushed the actors performances so that he could have more time for special effects and post production.
