Javier Bardem Is Wall Street 2 Bad Guy

We just keep getting more and more reasons to get excited about the upcoming Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps! I was already very pumped that Gordon Gekko (played by Micheal Douglas) was returning to the screen, but now they’ve just added one of my new favorite actors, Javier Bardem as the villain.

The folks over at Movie Moron give us this:

Javier Bardem will play the villain in Oliver Stone’s sequel to his 1987 examination of greed and excess Wall Street. He joins Hollywood ‘wunderkind’ Shia Lebouf and ‘golden oldie’ Michael Douglas, who will reprise his role as the infamous Gordon Gekko, on the cast list.

This is fantastic news. Like everyone else I really enjoyed Bardem in No Country For Old Men, but after I saw him in Vicky Christina Barcelona I was completely sold on him. He has great diversity. He can do comedy. He can do stone cold killer. Now I think he’ll be a great advisary for Gekko. Fantastic news!

This is fantastic news, he’s an amazing actor, I enjoyed him in No Country too, but this Wall Street should get a different name, i like it, but it’s a little long

So was the villain in the first movie? I thought Gekko was the antagonist? Or is this doing the whole previous-villain-is-now-the-good-guy idea like Rocky 3 and Ocean’s 13?

    • methos says:

Gekko was the antagonist to Sheen’s protagonist in the first Wall Street.

Please feel free to correct me, for the sequel Gekko is released from prison and becomes a mentor to Shia’s character.

I don’t know if Gekko is the “good guy,” wouldn’t be surprised if there is an ulterior motive up his sleeve while he mentors Shia. After all, we’re talking Gordon Gekko here! ;-)

so lemme guess – he works for the government? har har har

But Transformer boy is the lead! It could work…the first one is stellar
