V For Vendetta Director To Helm Conan?

We mentioned the other day that Brett Ratner, who was supposed to step up this summer to direct the relaunch of Conan The Bararian, has either dropped out or been given his walking papers… either way he’s off the movie. This re-opens the speculation about who could step in and direct the return of the Barbarian.

Well… our friends over at CHUD have uncovered a name… James McTeigue (director of V For Vendetta).

according to my very trustworthy, very much correct in the past source, they’ve found their director: James McTeigue. The director of the first good Alan Moore adaptation (V For Vendetta) and the upcoming Ninja Assassin, McTeigue was long the Wachowski’s first AD. There’s no question that McTeigue has the action chops needed to bring the Hyborian barbarian’s adventures to brutal, bloody life.

If this turns out to be true (and I have no reason to believe it isn’t at this point) then color me a happy camper. I think this would be a great fit for a franchise like this. I’ll agree with Devin that his visual and story telling styles will fit in perfectly with a Conan movie.

I’ll keep you updated if this becomes official or changes.

  1. I don’t understand how on one hand this website trashes directors like Ratner and McG and on the other hand is having it’s stomach pumped for being full of Neveldine and Taylor’s cum? Neveldine and Taylor make Ratner look like Spielberg.

  2. WOW! I think with the eye Mr. McTeigue had in V, this could be a VERY good move on the part of the studio, if in fact, it turns out to be true! NICE!
