Family Guy takes on Three Kings

Posted by on 11. 05. 2009in News Chat

Family Guy contributed to the irony of watching too much TV and introduce us to best seller classic novels turned into movies turned into segments recreated by Family Guy cast.

Three Kings is an episode of Family Guy that aired last night that featured three different Stephen King films Misery, Shawshank Redemption, and Stand By Me.

Wil Wheaton’s Twitter (shutup.. I’m tryin it out) reports OMFG Family Guy so read into that what you will. I think it’s approval.

Did anyone else see it?

it was funny, didn’t know stephen king wrote stand by me , always thought he was a horror writer.

    • Slushie Man says:

That’s a misconception. Stephen King has written almost as many non-horror stuff as he has horror.

    • iknewthiswouldhappen says:

the body–different seasons. it just so happens that he is known for horror, but that is not all that he writes.

    • nevada smith says:

Shawshank not a horror story either but a pretty damn good story. The Body was great – not horror. And many King books go a long way with no supernaturel bent and then pop.

    • Fernby says:

      Just a quick FYI:

Stand by Me was based upon the King short story entitled The Body, which was fist published in the book Different Seasons. SBM is one of those rare instances where both the book and the film are excellent, and can be enjoyed independently of each other.

    • pendragon00 says:

He wrote the running man too, not that the film is much like the book

I saw it and it was a great! But personally I love the show in general. It’s smart, irreverent, indecent, ironic, and just plain funny! Hope the shows lasts as long as the Simpsons!

Family guy has been cancled once. It is a great show though, it has nothing on chuck. SAVE CHUCK.

  4. ButterOnMyPopcorn says:

Speaking of parodies. Was watching Kill Bill Vol 1 this week and I thought to myself….”If they CG’d wolverine over Uma Thurman this would be the best wolverine movie ever and it would sorta follow is storyline in japan for the sequel.”

  5. Bale says:

saw this episode last nite, and my favorite was the stand by me clip…

i dont know if you watched it yet john/rodney, but they (seth mcfarlane(sp?) REALLY came at Joaquin Phoenix at the end, and i couldnt stop laughing…

plus they semi-expose a HUGE hole in the actual story of stand by me….i enjoyed this slightly less then the amazing star wars episode family guy did…but they should keep doing movie parodys.

    • chris....the real one says:

i would love another blue harvest, where they do Jurassic park or another iconic movie…

  6. Hassleberry says:

I used to really like family guy, recently, it has been much worse, and this was no exception, I hated the episode, it may be because I don’t think I have seen any of those movies, but I don’t like it as much anymore. Also, a clarifation: It has been cancelled twice.

  7. george says:

I can’t bring myself to watch this show, it’s unfunny and its creators don’t have an original idea in their brains.

    • Devan Price says:

thus the reason why they can’t come up with parodies like this. truly uncreative and they have no good ideas. FAMILY GUY SUCKS

      /sarcasm

I’m sorry I hate to be that one fan boy that feels the need to defend a TV show but… IF it was unfunny and unoriginal then no one would be watching it, talking about it, buying swag, repeating funny lines to friends when they see them (that came off family), and they wouldn’t have great parodies of movies if they were unoriginal/uncreative.

    • george says:

The whole parody argument just proves my point. This show’s shining moments are based on other people’s ideas.

    • Devan Price says:

I don’t see how a parody takes no effort.

It was pretty good. To bad they missed out on a Kiefer Sutherland joke in Stand By Me. It was to late to add in his offense of head butting people.

    thats gonna be frigin awesome
