Bradley Cooper As The Green Lantern?

I’ve been a HUGE fan of Bradley Cooper’s ever since his role on Alias (at one time my favorite show on TV). Cooper was probably my favorite character on the show beside Sloane (played perfectly by Ron Rifkin… perhaps my all time favorite television bad guy).
I had a chance to hang out with Cooper a little bit at Comic Con last year (yes I took the liberty of putting a picture up with me and him), which was a bit of a thrill for me since I’m such a fan of his work. The guy is so humble it would make your head spin. I remember him saying “I still have no idea why anyone wants me around”. Well… we do Brad.
Anyway, the guys over at Hitflix are reporting that Bradley Cooper is on the final short list to play the lead role in the upcoming hero flick “The Green Lantern”.
But his biggest role yet is the one he may be playing for Warner Bros. later this summer. I’ve just spent the last hour or so on the phones, tracking down a rumor I heard, and HitFix can exclusively report that Bradley Cooper is now one of the guys most likely to don the suit and slip on the power ring as The Green Lantern for director Martin Campbell. Let’s be clear: they have not hired him yet. But the process is far enough along that this is more than just a meeting or some spot on a wish list.
This would be exceptional casting. Cooper is a terrific performer, and I believe that after “The Hangover” comes out this summer, Bradley Cooper is going to be (finally) a major A-list star and getting him on board for Green Lantern now would be wise. He’s got very respectable comedic timing when needed, he’s a good looking dude with a superhero body type and a growing fan base. I’m all for this.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he’s the ONLY guy who can play this role… not at all… I’m just saying it would be a great casting decision and I’m all for it. We should know very soon if this is going to pan out.

He seems like a guy with a good head on his shoulders. From the camaraderie I saw between BC and Jim Carrey on Yes Man, you get the impression big things are ahead for Mr. Cooper. If this flick ever gets going, I’m sure it’ll do well with this likeable guy as the lead.
A little Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper humor there. Nice!
I’m with John. Brad is good looking and every Fag and man-loving female loves a guy with a superhero body. And it helps if they have a sense of humor!
John, what did you think of Midnight Meat Train? I personally thought it was one of Barker’s better adaptations since Hellraiser. Could’ve done without Ted Raimi’s excessive CGI death scene, but for the most part, all was good…in my opinion. What did you think? Was that an older comic con photo? Because I know he was there one year to promote that film. Anyways, what did you think of it?
that movie sucked so hard it hurt…..the first 75% was cool then wtf happened it just popped out of no where with some lame ass story bout middle earth retard mutants.
bigsampson, read any book by Clive Barker and the ending really is not a surprise. Midnight Meat Train was great and what I would expect from Barker’s writing.
I liked this guy in Midnight Meat Train and He’s Just Not That into You. I hope he gets casted and takes on the mantle of Hal Jordan.
i like this guys smile he has charm…..but my personal feelings is that from everything i seen him in (havent sen alias so i have no clue ) he doesnt strike me as a hal jordan at all…yet he is a actor and thats what actors do….they act so if he can play the role it would be nice.
i really hope this film turns out well, DC needs to get thier other characters on the big screen, other than batman and superman(not that i wouldnt mind seeing more of those films)
He seems very likable, but I don’t get that strong/fearless/reckless vibe from him. GL wields THE greatest weapon in the universe. No fear and all the world on his shoulders, both as Hal and GL. Cooper seems nice, but doesn’t really fit the bill for one of the most powerful and dominating characters of all time.
I’m not opposed to this casting but Cooper would really have to butch it up a bit to take on Hal Jordan. He’s already got the charisma part down but up until now all i’ve seen him in is comedic roles (haven’t gotten around to Meat Train yet).
I like him. Saw him last season on Nip/Tuck and he was pretty good in that.
If I were an actor I would literally suck a dick to get a superhero role
I will fucking PAY to be in a role like GL
I would kiss so much ass….they wont even have to pay me..I will volunteer
Good luck dude. I wanted the lead guy in the TV show Bones to be GL, but this guy might work out too.
I haven’t seen this guy in anything yet, so don’t really have an opinion yet. ;)
But Green Lantern is one of the few DC characters I care about them making a movie of.
