Vanessa Hudgens to star in Beastly

CBS Films has an eye set on retelling the classic Beauty and the Beast story with a modern update called Beastly. And they have Vanessa Hudgens as the Beauty.
Set in Manhattan, the movie tells the story of a handsome rich kid with a mean streak. When he ditches a date, a curse is placed upon him, turning him into everything he hates. The grotesque transformation leaves him with the seemingly impossible task of finding true love to break the ugly spell.
The only ugly spell that needs to be broken is that stink of High School Musical all over Hudgens. I guarantee you there will be people quick to dismiss this simply because it has a High School Musical star in it.
Hudgens needs to shake the Disney stigma and expanding into a few new projects will do just that for her. Maybe she will fade into obscurity, and maybe she will become the next Lindsay Lohan burning bright then becoming gossip fodder. Or maybe she might grow with her career and people will say 10 years from now “remember when she was just that High School Musical girl?”
Same can be said with Zac Efron. I am curious about this to see if it will be a step forward or back.

My friend met her when he was an extra in her new Bandslam movie that she filmed last year at Austin. Said she was nice enough and thought her acting wasn’t really crappy like in HSM, I mean from what he could gather actually seeing her on set.
I don’t know about this project could be just something flimsy and dumb, but I’ll wait for the trailer before I judge.
i agree that people are gonna dismiss this b/c of “high school musical”(not that i have anything against those films), but damn shes fuckin hot

Disney channel doesn’t suck, its just not aimed at you, so you don’t watch it.

For every actor that peaks with a Disney appearance there is one who outgrows the mouse.

As much as I would like to see Hudgens in a sexually aggressive role, she has far more talent than any porn star.
Besides, real acting gets paid way more than any of those stars make, and you can still tell your mom what you do for a living.

I’m not a fan of her but i loved the book and i can’t wait to see the first trailer!! i wish ppl would quit slamming the film before its development, WE DON’T KNOW WHAT IT’S GOING TO LOOK LIKE AT THIS POINT!!! for all we know this director might surprise us with this one, we’ve already seen the phenonmenon Twilight is wait and see what this movie brings out!!!
Twilight was popular as a book LONG before the movie came out. You cannot compare the two.
And its the same people who hate twilight that are going to bash on this film, so that argument isn’t going to get you far I am afraid.
First of all Twilight did not start the whole supernatural-teen-romance theme!!!! There have been other books and other things before that!!! Try Dracula or Buffy the Vampire Slayer if you want teen drama mixed with the supernatural!!! Beastly, i’m sorry to say is nothing like Twilight, there is no comparison!! I’ve read it and the Twilight saga (which i have to say the last book sucked!!!) Besides its only a matter of time before something else grabs the attention of the public!!!

dude they made a huge mistake with casting her in this movie. i like that they casted alex pettyfer as the beast. very good choice but not with vanessa. i dont think she can pull it off. she should just accept that her career is going down.
I agree, Vanessa was definitly not my first choice to play Lindy, but wait and see how she does. I don’t care for her as an actress, HSM just didn’t sell it for me!!! I am, however, anxious to see this film because i loved the book and yes Alex was the perfect choice to play Beastly Kyle!!!
