Because we are the losers of the war against the machines in The Matrix, we lost fair and square, yet we want to rebel against machines despite the fact that are clearly superior to us in every way. Her father uses her for moral support, Gaston uses her as a would-be trophy, and the castle characters are only kind to her due to ulterior motives. It almost swayed me, but I love that movie too much to see it as sinister.
