how come they didn’t pick Paul Weitz?

It would only make sense to pick him since they are film partners and know each other so well. I’m a bit uneasy about Bayona because he is going to jump in to the third movie without having seen the finished second movie.

As it has been stated in other websites, Chris can’t film Eclipse due to all the work he was going to have to do with editing and promoting New Moon. Though I heard that Stephenie Meyer likes to meet the director. I hope Bayona does a great job! Looking forward to the movies.
Oh also they want to get the movies all filmed as soon as possible due to the all the young actors and them being vampires who can’t age.

this is good

now every movie will be different and will have a different feel to it…

unlike all guillermo del toro movies which YOU CAN TELL are guillermo del toro…they ALL look the same (great movies though)

its just kinda cool to have that variety and change as the story continues

The guy who directed The Orphanage? Eh…I liked what he did with that movie, but doing Eclipse…huh..

It makes sense to chose another director for Eclipse because of the crazy ass release dates Summit has put in place. Chris will still be working on post-production with New Moon while Eclipse is gearing up. In a sense they are filming these movies back to back, though with different directors.
I definitely feel bias in this situation because Eclipse is my favorite of the series and I like the idea of Bayona directing. There are a lot more vampires and werewovles and action in the third book. If Bayona is allowed to start pre-production in the next couple of months I feel like Eclipse has a chance to be good movie.
And you know, Chris might come back to direct the fourth book (I wish it wasn’t going to be a movie).

Why do international directors with such promise have to always jump through hoops like do a studio picture that will obviously be bad, or direct a sequel in a franchise? Yes, the orphanage was fantastic…but so was hard boiled when john woo was in hong kong…he came to the states and look at the garbage they made him direct here in the US.
