In a panel discussion about Terminator Salvation, McG was asked to address the rumours that Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger would be reprising their roles in Terminator Salvation in one form or another.
MovieWeb shares what he says:
It seems appropriate to have (Linda Hamilton) in the picture in some capacity. We’re talking about it right this minute. Literally. At this minute. I am in constant communication with the California Governor. We showed him the film days ago, and await a meeting with him later this week. Truthfully, in regards to Schwarzenegger’s participation, it’s not clear. We’ll see where we land on that. He’s a very powerful guy. He has to do what’s right for him. It might be helpful for all of us to email him, telling him it’s a good idea.
There was a lot of speculation on whether we would get to see Arnold at all in this movie, and rumours had it that they spent a day digitally mapping the Governator’s face so that they could replace Kickinger’s with it and Arnie would “Be Back”.
And we already caught wind that Linda Hamilton was being courted to reprise her role, though it would most likely be a voiceover. But fans were hoping for a flashback scene to bring a visual to her passing.
I like that they are trying to incorporate these stars into the franchise. They could do it without them, but it would be a nice fanservice and perfect visual to bring them together in this.
We will have to see just what capacity, if at all these two play out.

I think they would be good additions to T4 even if it is just fan service, loved Hamiltons VO work in T2.
May as well put Arnies face on if its a t-800. They abandoned the idea that they were unrecgonisable and different ages ago. But it causes an error, if that many of them have the arnold face, why couldnt Reese recognise him in the Technoir club?
If they did that back in ’94 with Brandon in that “Crow” movie then it’ll be a piece of cake to do it now. Then they could call Frank Caliendo or someone like that to do his voice.
What da hell’s wrong with Linda having done all these TV movies for so many years now? Last memorable thing I remember from her is “Dante’s Peak”. She probably went bat shit or somethin’, anyhow she’s great.
personally i really hope they get arnies face on the body of kickinger….really it would add continuety from a visual stand point…arnold was a awesome terminator and will for ever be the dace of that series of terminator…..plus as i remember one of u guys saying about linda hamilton in part 1 was a cute modelesque l.a. waitress…and part 2 she went on to become one of the baddest women next to ripley in a movie…..just holds true it is wise to add her in some dream sequences…she truely was AWESOME in part 2
i actually think its a waste just to put arnold’s face on a character, but i dont think something like that will ruin the film, im still excited about this film
oh but i do like the idea of putting hamilton’s character in here for like a cameo or something
hamilton doing a voiceover doesnt make sense, cause shes already dead, but they could do a hallucination scene with here, like kyle resse in T2
