Could Wes Craven Direct Scream 4?

I’ll admit right up front that I’m not a huge Scream fan. Oh I liked it alright… but I never understood the cult following it attained or the reverence some people seem to have for the movie (then again I love Armageddon… so what do I know).
For those of you who do love the Scream franchise, you had to celebrate when word came out that the studio was indeed developing Scream 4. Well… there might be even better news (emphasis on the word MIGHT). It seems that Wes Craven himself seems open to the idea of returning to direct it.
The folks over at Bloody Disgusting give us this:
“It would take it being really as good a script as the first one was,” explaining that he should also be compensated for his work on the franchise, “and the pay day reflects what I’ve done for that company and what Ive gone through on Cursed (laughs).”
So basically he wants 2 things: 1) A good script (the writer of the first scream is on this one too), and 2) Money. Who can blame him?
I wouldn’t be holding my breath if I were a Scream fan… but at least he is keeping the option open. You think he’ll be back? SHOULD he come back?

OMG OMG OMG!!! I saw all 3 on opening day and would love to see a 4,5,6…. 90′s slasher films were great and far better than what we get now which is pg-13 bore fests.
I liked the first Scream, two was ok, and i could care less about part three. and omg its a post by John, havent seen that in a while lol
By the way is it just me or does Wes craven look like an older Bruxy?

I think they pretty much killed all their family and friends off. Who’s the killer now? Sydney? Dewey? Gail? That’s all thats left.

My take is that it won’t happen with the “SCREAM” name. If they do make a movie called Scream 4 it won’t have WC or KW attached. They take up too much of the budget.
And as we know, teen slashers don’t need big budgets or quality filmakers to make a profit. I.E. Friday the 13th and My Bloody Valentine 3D. All of the Saw movies have made money (as well as criticism for starting the torture porn subgenre).
However, to start a NEW slasher series, I could easily see WC and KW involved. If I were a producer, I’d take a look at movies like Cabin Fever and Wrong Turn and greenlight three movies back to back to back with 3 different small or independent directors, and a small central cast of 3 or 4 good teen actors. And fill the “death cast” with the usual teen screamers…
Then release them 6 months apart.
The story isn’t really the reason these types of movies exist.
But it IS what really set SCREAM apart.
i vote they hire David Blaine to make an illusion of an 800 million dollar budget movie
Is this going to be a sequel or a remake? I’ve been hearing more “Scream” remake rumors lately than I have the sequel news. I’m not rooting for either. I reviewed “Splinter” not to long ago and I’m convinced the new thing is gonna be creature features.

I’m a big fan of the Scream franchise, although we can all probably agree that the 3rd one sucked balls. I would be pumped to see another Scream, the remake idea is wierd but kind of interesting. Craven directing would def be for the best. and what’s KW doing with his time these days that’s better than returning to the Scream franchise, aka, the only thing he’s ever done that hasn’t sucked.
great lets make another pointless slasher where some guy slaughters some kids for no apparent reason so we can clap when the last chick finally kills him after saying some punchline. slashers ha!

i love the scream trilogy!!! it’s classic i watch it every weekend. i think that this movie is going to be bad ass. and its cool that sydney kills all the killers but i kinda want her to die in this one. it would make it more interesting, but if she doesnt die thats cool too. i think that neve campbell is the new scream queen. FUCK JAMIE LEE CURTIS
