The Joker May Be Back In Next Batman Film
Posted by John Campeaon 10. 01. 2009in News Chat
When Heath Ledger died many wondered if his portrayal of The Joker could be his best performance of his career. Turns out it was. As a mater of fact, he was so good that even though The Joker survived The Dark Knight, many assumed that we’d never see the character again in Christopher Nolan’s version of Batman.
However… recent comments from one of the films producers MAY suggest that they’re thinking about returning to the Joker with another performer. The folks over at Total Film give us this:
The Dark Knight producer Chuck Roven has claimed that people need to “separate the actors from the role,” in response to a question regarding The Joker and Heath Ledger. When asked by MTV whether the filmmakers would have done anything different had they known Ledger wouldn’t be reprising the role, Roven claimed that the character wasn’t tied to the actor.
“On a personal level, Heath was a friend of mine,” he said at the People’s Choice Awards. “We had worked together before The Dark Knight, but I still think that The Dark Knight is its own thing, and we have to separate them.”
I celebrate this news IF it indeed turns out to be true.
I think it would be appropriate for me to revisit my previous arguements as to why I think Heath Ledger can indeed be replaced as The Joker for future films:

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN AUGUST 4th 2008
Before I go into the reasons why I reject the idea that “no one will ever be able to play The Joker as well as Ledger did”, let me briefly address another issue I’m hearing some people bring up. Some people are suggesting that having another person play The Joker at this point would somehow be an “insult” or a “slap in the face” to Heath Ledger. That notion to me is utterly absurd.
First of all, do you think Heath Ledger put all his heart and sole into that character, sank so much energy and effort into the role to elevate it and raise the bar… just so the character would be retired if he couldn’t play the part anymore??? That’s sheer nonsense in my opinion. That’s the equivalent of saying “The best way to honor the magnificent career of Michael Jordan and to thank him for what he did for the game of basketball is to shut down the NBA after he retired”. Or “Lance Armstrong was so good at being an inspiration to people in his recovery against cancer, that no one else should ever try to overcome the disease and inspire others”. If WB doesn’t want to use The Joker again because he doesn’t fit into their future story plans, that’s totally fine. But to not use The Joker (who Ledger worked so hard to elevate and raise the bar for) because of some misguided notion that it would somehow be disrespectful to Ledger’s memory is one I reject outright.
Secondly, just because an actor does a wonderful job portraying a character, does not suddenly mean the character BELONGS to that actor. Ledger did his job magnificently… but his job was only one part of brining The Joker to “The Dark Knight”. The director who guided Ledger owns The Joker just as much as Ledger does. The Nolan brothers who wrote all the things that The Joker said and did owns The Joker just as much as Ledger does.
So would getting another actor to portray The Joker in the future be an “insult” to Heath Ledger? No, not even remotely. On the contrary, it could be the greatest honor you could give him.
But now let’s address the main issue here. The notion that no one could ever do as well as Ledger did playing The Joker. As amazing as Ledger was… i reject this idea. So due to the following reasons, here is why I believe Heath Ledger can be replaced as The Joker:
#1 – HEATH LEDGER WAS A GOOD BUT NOT GREAT ACTOR
During his career, Heath Ledger turned in some truly exceptional performances. Brokeback Mountain (which despite how good Ledger was in it, I believe was an overrated movie) and The Dark Knight showed us how good Ledger could be when he was really on his game. But unfortunately, for every one Brokeback performance, there were 2 Casanova’s and The Order’s. For everyone one “The Dark Knight”, there seemed to be two The Four Feather’s and A Knight’s Tales. Ledger was hit and miss. That fact doesn’t detract from his accomplishment as The Joker one little bit… but there are many better actors out there than Ledger, and to suggest none of them have the potential to turn in an even better performance than Ledger did is pretty myopic and short sighted. It’s not to say that anyone WOULD be better… but that there are actors out there who carry the potential to do even better if they were really on their game like Ledger was on his. I’m not saying it’s PROBABLE… I’m saying it’s POSSIBLE.
#2 – WHAT IF GUY PEARCE GOT THE ROLE INSTEAD OF LEDGER?
Let’s play “what if” for a moment. Let’s say that Christopher Nolan ended up choosing Guy Pearce to play The Joker instead of Heath Ledger. Ok, now let’s assume that Pierce did an amazing job (when does Pearce ever do anything less?) playing The Joker, let’s say just 0.0005% less well than Ledger ended up doing. Ok… now follow me here. We’d all be praising Pierce for the great job he did right? Now can you imagine how much you would be laughing at me if I came out of nowhere and said “I bet Heath Ledger would be an even better Joker than Pearce just was”. I would have been laughed out of town. “Pierce’s Joker was perfect” people would be sure to tell me. “No one will ever be able to do it as well as he has”. Yet little do they know that Ledger would have been better… even if only by 0.0005%. It would therefore be naive of us to not acknowledge that out there are some people that would be 0.0005% better a Joker than even Ledger was… and probably names that we would laugh at in our ignorance, just as we would have laughed at Ledger’s name 2 years ago.
#3 – IT CAN ALWAYS BE DONE BETTER
There was a time when it was said no one would EVER be as dominant or equal the accomplishments of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the world of professional bodybuilding. The man won the Mr. Olympia 7 times. You’re an idiot if you think anyone will ever do it better! Yeah well… that sounded safe enough to say until the day Ron Coleman won his 8th Mr. Olympia in a row. Whenever anyone says something has been done as well as it will ever be done… someone comes along and does it better. That’s the nature of things. Remember at the beginning of this post I mentioned that it is my opinion that Ledger’s performance as The Joker is the best performance in the history of the genre? That’s true… but it won’t be forever, or maybe even for long. Someone else will come along, probably someone we don’t really expect, and will beat it… and that’s a great thing to think about if you’re a fan of the genre.
#4 – ONLY CRISPIN GLOVER CAN BE THE JOKER. ONLY LACHY HULME CAN BE THE JOKER…
I remember back before Ledger was cast for the role, the online message boards were filled with casting ideas for The Joker… and usually the word “ONLY” preceded their name. ONLY Mark Hamill can be The Joker. The only person to play Joker is Guy Pearce. No one else other than Crispin Glover can really make the role work. The only person they should consider is Jack Nicholson again! Yeah, everyone had their idea about who the “ONLY” person alive was who could adequately play The Joker. Turns out they were all wrong, because Heath Ledger came in and rocked the hell out of that role. But now people, refusing to learn their lesson, are once again using the word “ONLY”, but this time it’s with Ledger. The lesson here is that there is NEVER “only” one person for a role.
At this point we have no idea if The Joker was even in the plans for the next Batman movie before Ledger died, so all this discussion could be for nothing. My only point here is to say, as great as Ledger was as The Joker (I believe great enough to warrant Oscar consideration), to believe that no one can possibly do it as well or better is completely naive in my opinion. And being aware of that fact is in no way a “slam” on the breathtaking performance he gave us, but rather just a recognition of how life and reality works.
Should they have The Joker in the next Batman flick? That’s a totally different question. Maybe the character doesn’t fit in with the story arch plans they have. But if they do have a story in mind that involves The Joker character, then it is possible that another actor could do the role just as well or even better than Ledger did, and to do so would be honoring and a tribute to the level that Ledger brought that character to in his final, and most brilliant performance.

I hope they bring the character back. I wanted him to die in the Dark Knight. I’m glad he didn’t since that would of went against the whole ideology of the Batman character in the Dark Knight. But that doesn’t mean it can’t happen in some other unfortunate way.
Kinda be strange just to completely disregard the character in the next film after he caused so much havoc. Then again, I don’t think I’d like to see him tossed aside in the next film sorta like Scarecrow was in the Dark Knight either. It worked for Scarecrow but I don’t think it would work for the Joker.
Robin Williams as the Joker. You heard it first here, at the Movie Blog. I have sources.
Hey Kitty Cats,
I TOTALLY agree with your fear about them just discarding Joker like they did with Scarecrow in The Dark Knight. To make Joker just some footnote in the next movie would be a tragic mistake.
If they do bring him back, I would like to see James Franco as the Joker. He’s a good actor who seems to be able to handle a fairly diverse range of roles. It would also be interesting to see how someone like Benicio del Toro would handle the role.
I have no problem with them bringing the character back as long as they bring THE CHARACTER back. Heath made this role his own but he also made it part of this particular Batman cannon.
I agree that they could get another actor to do the role, and it might not be exactly like Ledger’s performance (doubtful they could) but I hope they don’t try to change the Joker’s history to accommodate for another actor’s portrayal.
I did however, like how Joker changed his story when explaining how he got his scars. That could be a running motif for him never fully explaining how he got to where he is. And now with the Batman coming center stage in the Joker’s life, perhaps his motivations will change I just hope he remains this joker.
Daniel Day-Lewis as The Joker, Guy Pierce or Ryan Gosling as The Riddler and Rachel Weisz or Kate Beckinsale as Catwoman.
I adored Tim Burton’s Batman, it changed my life forever and is still a true classic. He made a mistake in killing off the Joker though, it left the following film somehow bereft of the essential alter ego that the Joker provides. This is one of the reasons the character is so enduring.
Let a new actor bring his own translation to the part, not tied to Ledger’s performance, but definately honouring it.
You know, I have an argument as to why they should NOT bring the character back, and it has nothing to do with Heath’s death.
The whole point of making sequels is to move forward and develop these characters, right? Batman is still going through growing pains. Gordon still has a lot of work to do as Commissioner. What does The Joker have left to do? What forward progress can this character make? We already know his deal. He’s all about chaos, woo hoo! Bringing him back would essentially be a rehash of what he did in TDK because there is no arc for him. It’s not like he’s going to be any different in the next film than he was in TDK. I want the next Batman movie to move forward with these characters and present new threats and challenges, and bringing The Joker back, as awesome as he is, would be a step backward.
No offense Kristina but you’re wrong. They still haven’t completed the story about the joker. He goes to Arkum meets Harley Quinn and then they take over Gotham!
They should try Johnny Depp, he’s gothic enough to fit the role.
Oh yeah! Go Depp! But as i said before NO ONE can beat Heath Ledger’s joker. When ever i think of Heath Ledger I think of the joker now.
ya i totally agree with you dude. Depp is awesome but no one can beat heath ledgers joker. the joker is like allways and i really mean ALWAYS in my head i seriously just can’t get him out so i have no idea who will play the joker next movie but im pretty sure sarah dunn is playin harley quinn and she is makin that character seem pretty freaky too.i saw the character of harley and it looks pretty kool:-)
The Joker is Batman’s constant nemesis, and if they do bring him back (and they should) they should wait for one more movie, let the next one be another bad guy’s showcase, then bring the Joker back for a fourth installment, assuming fo course they decide to do a fourth movie.
How about Adrian Brody as the Joker? I remember while watching TDK there were a few scenes where the Joker was talking and I thought that it sounded exactly like Brody. I think he could pull it off. Just a though.
…and that’s why Two Face was in TDK, because he had the arc that Joker was missing. I loved Nolan’s anaolgy that Joker was just a razor blade cutting through the film, free of the motivations and journeys that all of the characters needed to go on.
I need to really think hard whether Joker should come back (lots of pros and cons) but, and correct me if I’m wrong, there’s one obvious bad guy option for the next film that nobody is considering……….
……Ra’s Al Ghul.
I’m not saying that Liam Neeson’s character would be back but think about all the things he says in that movie. The League of Shadows has been around for centuries, he was going to commit suicide to destroy Gotham with that train anyway, Ra’s is an indestructible symbol etc etc. There would be no problem at all with another actor playing the next Ra’s in line to the mantle.
Plus, I would assume one of the themes of the next film, with Batman on the run/quiting/disappearing, will continue to be the immortality of legends and how, once they reach that certain status, they can’t just vanish off the face of the Earth never to be seen again; there will always somebody to take their place. Ra’s in the perfect fit for that story.
I trust you guys to lay the truth on me. Am I way off base here?
Im still on the thinking that Ledger portrayal blew me away. When he was on call for the role I thought Nolan lost his mind. However, Ledger proved me and million other fans wrong. To put another actor in the role I feel is possible but it just wouldnt be Ledger’s Joker. If they did bring the character back it should be in Arkham in a padded dark room so the viewers wouldnt see Joker as much and the actor would just be reprising Ledger’s Joker for the sake of continuity. It could work like a sort of Silent of the Lamb theme. I could totally accept that. But having to think of the Joker in the next film with totally diffrent actor with a new direction for the character would bother me too much.
I guess I agree with Kristina in a way. If they brought the Joker back it would just kinda be a rehash of what he already did cuz, while he is a fun character to watch, we get his deal and know what he is about. What else could they do with him in the next film?
Perhaps just leaving the influence of what he did to Gotham in the next film is more important than actually having him in the film.
But the joker has so much to do left! If they bring in another villian the joker could join an alliance with him and then turn on that villian and take over Gotham again!
well if you just read up you can see that he partners up with harley quinn. heath ledger was the best joker there could probably ever be and they are going to have to go through a lot of aditions to find someone like him. i personaly really want to bring him back because the joker was like my favorite character ever but i just don’t know how they can get someone as good of a joker as heath ledger!:-):-):-)
if nolan wants to do another, and wants to have the joker in it,
he’ll recast the role.
whoever he casts will have the joker that ledger molded to start from, and will then have the chance to creatively add to.
i dont see a problem doing that.
if its done well, it’ll be accepted.
if the films weren’t connected then the next joker could be a completely different incarnation and vision.
i think people would accept that too.
PickleBot is right that Burton made a huge mistake of killing off the Joker. If he didn’t do that Burton probably would have wound up doing Batman 3 with Jack one more time thus avoiding the Schumaker era.
I could see Graves view were they use the Joker in a darkened room at Arkham in a brief sequence but I would be surprised if Nolan brings the character back as the center of the story. Still after giving it thought I would accept it if he did.
Still- If your WB you want the character back because you have a license to print money as fans and non fans alike would flock to theaters to view the comparison to Ledger!
chuck
After seeing Revolutionary Road, I think Michael Shannon should play the Joker in the next Batman film. He literally played the Joker is Rev. Road only without the makeup.
Totally agree with you! He was really impressive in that roll and reminde me a lot of Heath’s Joker.
maybe they should set it up to where harleyquinn breaks him out of arkham at the end of the third film, and set up the plot for a possible fourth
I said it before and I’ll say it again. I think Brad Dourif would make a great Joker. I can see him being just as good maybe even better then Heath Ledger.
I think what Roven is saying is not that they are thinking about bringing the Joker back, but that they’re not ruling it out. Personally, I’m in the “let’s move on to another villain” camp. If Nolan can come up with a story that absolutely has to have the Joker in it for it to work, then so be it… recast the part. Somehow, given Nolan’s comments(on other things… not on the Joker or Ledger) and his track record… I’m pretty sure he isn’t a director who likes to repeat himself. It’s a pretty safe bet that if Nolan does make a third film, the Joker will most likely not play a part in it.
I’d really love to see what Nolan could do with a villain like Black Mask!
now that batman is seen as a threat and are hunting him down, they should set it up where all these criminals are rising up and driving gotham into hell, thus confimring everything the joker told batman during the interrogation scene.
To be honest with you, the only reason I liked The dark knight was because of the joker, so if the new guy can do a good job, I will be fine.
ya vidsub thats pretty much the same reason for me to. the joker is like my favorite charcter ever and they need to find someone as good as heath ledger to play the joker or else wats the point of watchin the next movie. to watch batman (used to be big hero) get chased by the cops.
Reply to Kristina,
I disagree. They don’t have to bring the joker back as the main bad guy at all. He can just as well play the Hannibal Lector role where Batman has to come to the joker in Arkam for “advice” or some kind of insight on the new villain. Maybe we find out that the Joker had his hand in it the whole time which helps him escape from Arkam.
There’s many ways they could bring him back. Not to mention he is to much a part of Batman to leave out IMO.
The coyness from David Goyer here lends itself to the argument that the Joker will indeed be back for the next film. Watch David Goyer’s response to the question of the Joker returning:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qz6_vBAvLIA
He could be back!
john
do you think it would be better to save another joker actor for a future non-nolan franchise?
I would like to see the Joker come back and be used in an almost “Hannibal Lecter” type way from silence of the lambs. The Joker character is very intelligent and is something of a sociologist, i could see him being used as a resource for trying to locate or gain insight to another villain such as Bane or perhaps the Riddler. It would have to be done in a way that doesnt scream “Silence of the Lambs ripoff” but I think it could be done and give us some more great dialogue scenes with Joker and Batman or perhaps even Joker and another villain.
Wow, Rob I just read your response and I pretty much repeat you verbatim. Needless to say, I agree 100%.
I’m fine with them bringing back the Joker, as long as it works within the plot line.
An interesting prospect, I think, is the plotline they originally wanted for the next film. I forget where I read this, but I remember reading somewhere Nolan saying that he wanted the film after TDK to be the trial of The Joker. That could work, as long as they have another villain in the mix to keep it from getting to bogged down with courtroom scenes. That would give the also give the filmmakers a setting in which they could keep the camera away from The Joker for a lot of the time, which would help with continuity.
I’d really love to have them introduce Harley so she can set up Joker’s next plot, and then bust him out of Arkham at the end of the movie. And so we can finally get Harley in a movie. :D
I still object to the idea of bringing the Joker back, for three reasons. Number one, it would be disrespectful to the memory of Heath Ledger, number two, people are going to be talking about Ledger’s performance for years to come, and finally, because of what Kristina said, it could be very well just a huge rehash of The Dark Knight, and the only way to keep Batman from becoming stale and repetitive is to keep bringing in new and fresh characters.
@andrew
it wouldnt be disrespectful of heath ledger to recast the joker, only thing disrespectful would be to never use that character again, albeit i dont think the replacement will be as good as heath ledger but people said the same thing about jack nicholson’s joker but heath’s performance blew jack’s away, maybe a newcomer can do the role just as good or maybe even better.
this is great news however, I don’t think anyone will play the joker as good as Heath, and I know your probably tired of hearing this John, BUT, Everyone here would agree that Heath did a phenomenal job as the joker. Surely someone could play the character good, but it will always be compared to his performance. Heath is the best joker in my opinion. And, look, they should leave what happened to the joker in our imaginations, and bring in someone like the riddler.
@ Kate
with all due respect, Harley Quinn is an overrated character that is a waste, and would blow the joker’s craziness. Harley Quinn in my opinion should never-EVER be in a batman film.
@Aaron
I dissagree, I think Harley would be great as a copy-cat killer. She just imatating the manurisms of the Jokers style. This would also work with the whole Joker in silent of the lamb angle and Batman must dive into Jokers mind to find her and bring her to Arkham only in the end to find out Harley was Jokers doctor.
Also why the hell does so many want the Riddle as the next villan? I like the Riddle but he is nothing compair to the Joker.
Brokeback Mountain was not overrated. I would be fine with Guy Peirce.
Personally, I just want to see a villain who can physically beat the shit out of Batman. The Joker did so psychologically and therefore I’m not all that interested in seeing another interpretation of the character in the third film. Now, I’m not that familiar with Batman’s rogue gallery except for the usual suspects, and I don’t see any of them capable of going toe-2-toe with him. But again I just want to see Batman get beat down for the simple fact that he was way too annoying in The Dark Knight with the voice and his “misplaced sense of righteousness.” Like he blindly believed in the goodness of Gotham’s citizen and somehow knew that they will not blow each other up in the whole ferries scenario. That was so fucking annoying.
personally i really want to see batman beat the shit out of to but thats probably not going to be for a long time wich kinda makes me mad and wonder whos going to beat him up. but i just want the the joker to be as good as heath ledger was in the dark knight wich might be kinda hard.:-)
@Phil Gee
I agree with you that the League of Shadows or simply Ra’s al Ghul needs to be in the third movie. Perhaps not as the prominent villain, but at least in an active role.
I remember thinking after “Batman Begins” ended how Ra’s said that the League of Shadows had inflitrated all levels of Gotham and how nobody caught or rounded up ANY of those LoS members.
None of the LoS members appear in “The Dark Knight,” so we can presume that they are STILL inflitrating all levels in Gotham City, waiting and preparing for another attack.
Liam Neeson’s character would not make a return (too bad; I appreciated his performance in the first half of “Batman Begins,” before Bruce first dons the Batsuit). But the newest incarnation of Ra’s (whomever he is) would be ripe to continue the mission of the League of Shadows.
Phil Gee, your last paragraph sums up why Ra’s makes perfect sense. Rather than trying to say it differently, I quote exactly how you said it:
“Plus, I would assume one of the themes of the next film, with Batman on the run/quiting/disappearing, will continue to be the immortality of legends and how, once they reach that certain status, they can’t just vanish off the face of the Earth never to be seen again; there will always somebody to take their place. Ra’s in the perfect fit for that story.”
Forget the batman, keep the Clown.
The Origin of the Joker a.k.a. “The Man Who Laughs”.
In the Origin of the “The Man Who Laughs,” the joker is a young lad and a pathetic victim instead
of his usual role as a villain. In this moving melodrama he had a dual role, starring as both
Gwynplaine (The Man Who Laughs), and also as Lord Clancharlie, Gwynplaine’s father, a Scottish
nobleman who has rebelled against King James II in 17th-century Britain. As Lord Clancharlie is
being placed for execution in the notorious “Iron Maiden,” he asks what will be done with his son,
Gwynplaine. King James’ cruel jester pulls the boys mouth apart in a grimace, and the king
understands that the young boy with a beaming, angelic smile will be given to a notorious band of
nomads, the Comprachicos.
The Comprachicos purposely disfigure the young boy by carving the corners of his mouth into a
fixed, hideous grin. As if what they have done turns into a bad Omen, the Comprachicos are exiled
from England, abandoning Gwynplaine in the English countryside during a severe snowstorm burning
his facial expression into a permanent one.
Plodding through the storm, the youngster comes across a baby girl in the arms of her frozen and
lifeless mother. Although the boy doesn’t have any reason to perpetuate acts of kindness due to
his practically shattered spirit, his heart goes out to this young child, and he rescues her. As
he plods through the howling storm with the baby in tow, they are saved by a small traveling
troupe of actors who are led by kindly philosopher, Ursus. Ursus is horrified when he sees
Gwynplaine’s disfigured face, and he realizes that the baby girl, Dea, is blind.
They are both adopted by the troupe, and years later Dea, has grown into a beautiful blind girl.
A romance of the heart, not of the eyes, develops between Gwyplaine and Dea. Gwynplaine, who has
now become a famous performing clown, is finally happy, and fate steps in when Gwynplaine discovers
he is heir to a peerage and is summoned back to London.
It is there that his life will take a fateful turn when the jester who had persuaded the king to
disfigure Gwynplaine and the queen, see an opportunity to continue their mind-twisted torture.
MAYBE THEN ALL WILL UNDERSTAND WHY JOKER LOST IT.
I think they should have depp as the joker if they bring the joker back. But NO ONE ABSOLOUTLY NO ONE can beat Heath Ledger’s performance as the joker
exactally johnny depp is like my favorite living actor:-). and again im with you on the absoloutly no one can beat ledger’s performance as the joker:-)☻☻☻☻☻☻it was kick ass☻☻☻☻☻☻
my favorite part of the movie was when harvey dent was in this cop car thing and the joker was shooting well it was like the whole battle scene to the end of the movie…..plus i just love the jokers laugh:-):-):-):-):-)
Batman 3 Brad Dourif as the Joker,
Christopher Walken as The Riddler…
Win and Win Again. Christopher Walken is Mr. Reese (Mysteries) and sent his son to work at Wayne Enterprise (the guy who was going to tell everyone who Batman was) btw did you see Ra Ghoul’s guy in the Batman Dark Knight? Watch it again especially the Hospital scene… when the guy is going to shoot Mr. Reese
I believe that ledger had a spectacular performance in the dark knight in his role as the joker but because of his death it does not mean that we all should have to suffer, the joker is batmans arch enemy through every comic and every cartoon, and therefore cannot be cut out, but on the other hand i feel that the place needs to be filled by a great actor not just a so so performer, and i personally think that although he is tremendous actor and most commonly known as captain jack sparrow i believe that johnny depp would be able to fill the role better than anyone out their.
If it is joker they want then let jim carey fill-in for the character of heath ledger. It’s not acting actually delivers the concept of the joker, it is his insanity that made the joker a bit more intriguing to see. To the fact that I did saw Carey do some serious role then why not he be the Joker where I think is more perfect to be portray than others out there.
The joker has to come back
His story wasn’t complete, and we miss him!
I need to see more of the Joker
Yeah…I have a weird obsession with the character
all you people who are against the return of the joker are crazy. the joker is a critical component to the continuation of nolans batman vision. the joker must return to continue pushing batman closer to his dark side trying to get batman to kill criminals like himself.
if the joker doesnt return for batman3 the movie wull fall very short compared to the dark knight. i believe the studio and nolan are both very much aware of this. i believe they will definately bring the joker back.
Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) should get a shot at Joker if you want to keep the look. Think he could pull it off.
I agree with Chuck – the joker was such a big draw that batman 3 will fall short if he’s not a character
There was no Joker in the first movie, and it was a big draw.
The best person to be the Joker will be Jesse Gordon Spencer from the show House who plays Dr. Robert Chase.
Check him out.
okay, i think they should have the joker in arkham asylem and set up for a Arkham movie. They have this next movie all about another character. but at the end they all end up in the asylem. so for a 4th movie they do it just like the comics. The joker sets up a plan to get Batman in the asylem with all of his foes. It would be epic!! agree or dissagree?
If they return with the Joker I say they should edit heath in the movie for a short time training up an apprentice. kill the real joker off by prisoners (most of the ones who were on the boat in dark knight) then have the apprentice escape.
You can’t steal the real joker away from Heath Ledger in this current series of batman movies.
Would love to see the Joker in the third in some fashion just to have closure with the character in the trilogy. That’s not going to happen though, he won’t even get a mention. We got Bane and Catwoman so we’ll have to be fine with that. Oh and by the way, in reference the #3 example in the post, Lee Haney won 8 Mr. Olympia’s in a row way before Ron Coleman. Lee Haney beat Arnold’s record first by winning from 1984-1991. Just thought you’d like to know.
