Pegg and Frost join TinTin

The Blood and IceCream Trilogy is not complete, but Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will once again be teaming up as the clumsy detectives Thompson and Thompson in the upcoming TinTin.

Coming Soon says:

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (the Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz duo) have landed the roles of Thomson and Thompson in director Steven Spielberg and producer Peter Jackson’s Tintin.

The movie will be animated with motion-capture technology and star Andy Serkis as Tintin’s friend Captain Haddock. Thomas Sangster was previously set to play Tintin but had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts

As I mentioned before, I was never a big TinTin fan, and only vaguely aware of its existance. Obviously this is far more popular than I realized as the International Friends came to its defense.

However I grow concerned that Pegg and Frost might bring too much of their own chemistry to the roles of the twins Thompson – not to be confused with 80s pop group Thompson Twins named after the characters. These characters have their established roles in the cartoon, and with Pegg and Frost the characters may take on a different role.

    YES!!!!!!!!
    i LOVED hot fuzz and shaun of the dead…i hope this is remotely close to that…because those two movies were INSANELY hilarious
    thanx for the great news rodney

    never heard of tintin….is that something that coudl turn out like hot fuzz or shaun of the dead? comedy?

  2. Mr. Chris says:

    Tintin is nothing like their usual movies, although this is a good casting choice for Thomson and Thompson, since both the actors and characters are known for their physical comedy.

    @Hazmat
    Tintin is a comic book adventure series from the 1930′s. More in the vein of Indiana Jones, where Pegg and Frost would be playing the bumbling comic relief sidekicks. There’s comedy, but it’ll be up to them if it’s in the same vein as their other movies.

  3. NeilH says:

    Yay! Tintin was pretty good, casting Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock (the best character in comics) is inspired. Withthe addition of Frost and Pegg I’ll be going to see this.

  4. Kristina says:

    I love these two, but I don’t know about this.

  5. Party Marty says:

    Serkis has the face for motion capture. I hope Captain Haddock wont be crouching and walking on his hands all film.

  6. ADOX says:

    i love pegg and frost but this is not good casting unless the film is very different from the original

  7. Mr. Chris says:

    @Party Marty
    Only during the drinking parts, I expect. :)

  8. John says:

    I have no idea why no-one has mentioned this yet, but it’s THOMSON and Thompson. Even though they are apparently twins. Who are known as the Thompson twins. Hey, if it makes sense for Mario and Luigi to be “the Mario brothers”…

  9. Rodney says:

    Perhaps the Mario Brothers’ last name is Mario? Like how some people are called by their last name as a nick name? Meet Giovanni Mario and Luigi Mario. The Mario Brothers. lol

    There has been some ambiguity about the Thompson Twins as in TinTin apparently its let slip that they are brothers or sometimes actual twins in the books despite the running gag about their names spelling.

    I’ve never read the books, but there is some speculation on their relationship discussed online.

  10. Gutpunch says:

    They are twins in the books. And the thing about twins is that, aside from looking alike 99% of the time, they tend to sound alike as well so it’s strange to cast two actors with very distinct voices for the parts, instead of what they usually do, cast one actor to play both parts.

  11. Mr. Chris says:

    And considering it’s mo-cap, they could get away with one actor more easily.

    But even as twins, they had different voices in the animated series. It was the only way you could tell them apart.
