Korean Popstar Rain caught the eye of the Brothers Wachowski while producing Speed Racer and is staring in their next action flick bringing us more of Korea’s hottest star. Check out this video of some of the fight scenes being practiced for their upcoming Ninja Assassin.

ScreenRant calls it:

Ninja Assassin is the story of one of the world’s best assassins, Raizo (played by Korean pop star, Rain) who was trained to kill by a secret organization that later executes his best friend. Naturally, Raizo must avenge his friend’s death and the blood bath ensues.

You can’t really go wrong with a movie called Ninja Assassin, and this Rain guy looks like he is more than capable in the physical aspect of the movie.

The action looks incredible, and this just might be what Rain needs to establish himself in the North American market. Then we can finally see what all the fuss is about.

Well I have to say on one hand the fights are looking to be entertaining. However, with that being said why do the fights have to look like alot of other martial arts films with all the spining, jumping and 1,2,3, sword fighting. Its fun to watch but after seening it in other films a dozen times it becomes stale to me. I like to see a ninja movie with some real ninja moves and techniqes.

Very cool video, thanks for posting it. Can’t wait to see what this finished film is going to be like.

  3. I agree with GRAVE….it’s nice to see all the fighting and sword moves and such. It’s very entertaing. But for once make a movie about what it really is. I also know that directors have to make it as entertaining as possible in order to make it a blockbuster hit. But still….

Well I have to make note of Batman Begins and The Last Samurai where the ninja scenes with the sword fights I enjoyed lots and didnt use the hokie martial arts acrobatics.
