Universal and Weinsteins Negotiating Inglorious Bastards

Last we spoke about Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards shopping for money men it was said after approaching some AList stars, the studios were all lining up.

Now it looks like a deal is in the works and Tarantino will have some big guns backing this project if it works out.

Yahoo says:

Universal Pictures is in negotiations to partner with the Weinstein Co. on “Inglorious Bastards,” Quentin Tarantino’s long-in-the-works World War II project.Universal would co-finance the picture and handle international distribution. Weinstein Co. principals Bob and Harvey Weinstein will oversee production and distribute domestically.

Its so hard to maintain that edgy independent filmmaker bit when the armoured car parade of cash is at your drive-thru window.

But a lot of die hard Tarantino fans have been chomping at the bit hoping for this film, so getting some coin on it just speeds that process up.

  1. I was curious to see what else Madsen has done lately. I looked it up and DANG! that guy works a lot.

At this point, I don’t really see anyone messing with his style. He’s got enough of a reputation and fanbase, so bring on the money and get this thing done. I can’t wait.

  2. I’m wondering if Michael Madsen is still going to have a large role. When this movie was first reported, he was supposed to be one of the main characters, but now I wouldn’t consider him A-list or able to have a big draw outside of the Tarintino fanbase.
