Natalie Portman takes on Love and Other Impossible Pursuits

I find Natalie Portman to be infectiously appealing star. When she gets behind a role, she nails it. However when she isn’t excited about something, well not so much (coughstarwarscough) Well Natalie is behind this new project so I look forward to seeing what she does with it.

ComingSoon.net says:

Natalie Portman is set to star with Scott Cohen and Charlie Tahan in Love and Other Impossible Pursuits, a Don Roos-directed adaptation of an Ayelet Waldman novel.

The story revolves around a young woman who finds the key to recovering her marriage in her relationship with her precocious stepson.

I always felt that Portman excells in the family drama sort of story. Many of my favourite films with her seem to fit into that genre.

Portman is also filling the big producers chair in this as well as this film will fall under her banner of Handsomecharlie films.

  1. oh wow kristina, you just wrote what I’m afraid to say. I like Natalie Portman too. She’s smart, pretty, and looks like a really respectable actress. But in terms of acting I don’t see a home run.

  2. I like her, but she is a tad overrated. Her best role was when she was a child (The Professional). Since then, what has she done? V for Vendetta was awesome, but not because of her. Anyone could have duplicated or bettered her perofrmance in that film. Same deal with Closer. Star Wars…don’t get me started. Anywhere But Here? Nope. Where The Heart Is? Nope. Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium? Nope. I have yet to see a film that she has done, other than her first one, where she truly impressed me with her acting. People keep talking her up, but I don’t understand why, apart from the fact that she’s beautiful.
