yes, that was PART of the reason. but the film-makers acknowledge the other more obvious reasons. it deviated from the book

are you kidding? the orrigional order Lewis put them in was the lion, the witch and the wardrobe first! the magician's nephew is like a flash back! (no offense to the magician's nephew - it's my favorite.) but the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is one of the most best-loved books. pure magic! great symbalism! what with Edmund's betrayal, Aslan's sacrifice and Rising again, the witch's defeat. it's beautiful

yes, i don't enjoy the Prince Caspian book as much as the others, but i don't think that was the problem with the movie. the main problem was because they didn't follow the book hardly at all. big mistake, and it cost them.
as for Peter and Susan - they were always my least favorite, even in the books - especially Susan. Edmund is my favorite :P lol anyway, just my opinion.

yes, but if you are going to make a GOOD movie based on a book, you must respect the author. i was disgusted with their confidence in their own handywork. they thought they could do it better than Lewis. Lewis was a genius! it's just plain arrogance.

it is a fact that they didn't get near the amount of money for the second movie as they did the first. they acknowledge they made a mistake with prince caspian by changing it completely from the book, and they won't make that mistake again. i know that some did enjoy the second, but i doubt very many of them have read the books.

These films are an adaptation of the book, they are not the book.

Adaptation MEANS change.

I enjoyed The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Although the makers used some creative license it did stay very close to the book. I was, however, very disappointed with Prince Caspian because they not only changed much of the story line they also changed the personalities of characters in the story. For example, Peter's intent was to put Caspian on the throne, not be in competition for leadership. I found myself being so disappointed with the changes that I couldn't enjoy the film.

Now, even though Disney has opted out of doing the Dawn Treader, from the previews that I've seen it appears that the makers have, once again, decided to deviate from the actual storyline. My thought is that C.S. Lewis was so creative on his own that changing the story is so unnecessary. I'm afraid that I will be so focused on the changes that I will not enjoy the good that may be in the film.

My two cents....

They are officially making a third movie. I'm just glad that Disney ISN'T involved.
I mean, c'mon, that whole (COMPLETE DEVIATION FROM THE BOOKS) love scene with Susan and Caspian was completely Disney. It had Mickey Mouse's pawprints all over it. XD...or would that be Tinkerbell now...

Either way, if you ask me, Disney needed to get out of the picture, and HOORAY for the third Narnia movie!
