The Soloist Rescheduled

FoxxThe Soloist starring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. has been rescheduled to March of next year. We get the details thanks to Kris over at In Contention:

After initially being booted out of awards season into the cinematic no man’s land of March 2009, it seems Joe Wright’s “The Soloist” has been rescheduled yet again.

It’s now apparently slated for release on April 24, which sounds like a beneficial move into early summer-movie territory. Read into that what you will. Perhaps it’s a vote of confidence in the film’s commercial viability, though I suspect this is still no awards contender.

I wasn’t really looking forward to this one, but for those of you that were….you have to wait longer.

The duo of Foxx/Downey has some promise, but whenever something gets rescheduled – I usually assume its because it sucks. Time will tell, and that time is March,

    Might just be oscar positioning

  2. David Lopan says:

Rescheduling happened because the studios got in way over their heads and weren’t able to release the film on time with all the other ones coming out.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets shelved altogether, and just moves into “straight to DVD” territory…
