We have word today that Avatar will be available on the IMAX 3-D screen. We get wind of this news from the vision caves of Yahoo:
“Avatar” is going big. The live-action 3-D sci-fi adventure from James Cameron will be released simultaneously in Imax 3-D when the film premieres next year in conventional 3-D theaters, Imax Corp. and 20th Century Fox announced Thursday.
Set for a December 18, 2009 release, “Avatar” marks Cameron’s belated follow-up to 1997′s “Titanic.”
I was interested in checking out Avatar; but now I’m excited to see it.
After watching Beowulf on the 3-D IMAX screen, I can’t wait to celebrate anew with Avatar. I love me some 3-D and look forward to donning the glasses as I view strange new worlds on the silver screen. I believe there is still an IMAX pyramid in Niagara Falls – when this comes out I will have to get tickets there.
International friends – will you see avatar on IMAX 3-D or will you take it anyway you can get it?

IMAX 3D ONLY….something this epic deserves the best and if they are offering, I’ll take it. I love Cameron’s work and firmly believe that he won’t disappoint.
Avatar? Really? I always thought this was one of the worst cartoons I’ve ever seen.

LOL LOL LOL :P
No, really! I wasn’t trying to be obnoxious or anything lol. I really don’t see why this is so popular.
LMAO okay, i actually READ the article now. I just saw “Avatar” and immediately went “what the hell?”. Nvm. Fail on my part.
@Formless
Your serious?
lol
Yeah, unfortunately I WAS serious before I read the actual article. That’s what titles can do to someone who hates on something so strongly. :(
Just to let you know their are making a live action Avatar, titled The Last Airbender and it’s being directed by non another then M. Night Shyamalan :P
Oh boy, that gives me even MORE of a reason to dislike it.
I heard that James Cameron’s Avatar is so realistic that you can’t tell if it real or CGI.
Does anyone feel that seeing something in IMAX for the first time actually takes away from the experience? I mean that in the sense you can’t actually concentrate on the entire picture as much because its size.
@Formless
Hell no… i remember going to the IMAX watching a documentary and i was scared because it felt like i was flying lol.
i want to see avatar thats one thats been made by the Shamm hammer , he is just a direct that can pull it off
@ KEVIN. Ouch, that sentence took me like 5 reads to understand. But I got ya now. I’m kinda interested in Sham’s Avatar as well, just to see if he can actually do something different. But I’m far more interested in Cameron’s.
Think this will be my IMAX cherry popper, I have been excited about this movie since I read about it 4+ years ago.
@BROLY
I saw something about “movie magic” in IMAX awhile back and it showed the scene from (the original) King Kong where he falls from however many stories high and the whole first person view scared the hell out of me.
Never seen a movie at the IMAX but i plan to.
Can’t wait till this movie comes out
