Spielberg Returns to Universal

By Rodney - October 14, 2008 - 08:15 America/Montreal

Earlier this year Paramount and Spielberg ended their distribution deal because High Lord Spielberg was not happy with their arrangement. A new deal was not established and now Stevey is leaving the playground and taking his toys with him.

Univsersal Studios has offered him a home and Steven is very happy with the move.

Yahoo says:

Under the seven-year deal, Universal will distribute up to six DreamWorks movies a year domestically and overseas, except for India, executives for both companies said Monday.

“Universal has always been my home base so this agreement starts a new chapter in what has been a long and successful association,” Spielberg said in a news release. “While it feels great to come home again, it feels like I never left.”

This seems like a logical move. Its comfortable for Spielberg to work with Universal, and Universal Studios attractions are littered with Spielberg’s properties that were retained after Paramount took over distribution.

Its like divorced parents getting back together. Something we don’t often see in Hollywood – unless its the plot of a Disney film.

who cares….havent liked any of his movies in ages ……so oh well.

  2. Not a Spielberg fan. Indiana Jones movies are brilliant beyond belief. I’m not saying he is a bad director by any means of the word. He isn’t! But he is far from my favourite.

He is however, “the Don” of HOLLYWOOD… and I respect him in that regard.

Spielberg is producing far more than he Directs lately, so to say “his films” is a little vague. In the last 5 years alone he has produced some major hits. Many of which even if you don’t care for the genre, you have to admit are good for those genres.

Sorry Spielberg, your days are done, there are too many competition like….

Chris Nolan and Robert Rodriquez and even many more directors….

  6. Rodney says:

Its a good thing Spielberg isnt just a director like Nolan and Rodriguez are.

Spielberg’s days are FAR from over. He just doesnt “have” to work if he doesn’t want to. That’s the difference.
