The other day the first few shots of Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes hit the web (which didn’t look like what I thought they would, but I have no idea of the context of the pictures at this point so really can’t say anything about this yet), and today Mr. Ryan sent me what appears to be the first pics of Jude Law (one hell of an actor… probably even better than Robert Downey Jr) as Doctor Watson.
Law is rockin the stache! I’ve got to tell ya folks, this is a movie I’m just dying to see. Not just because of the solid cast. Not just because one of my favorite directors, Guy Ritchie, is helming it. But mostly because I think Sherlock Holmes is one of the coolest and most interesting fictional characters across all mediums ever. Damn I wish it was coming out next week.

Downey Jr is looking a little less scruffy there too. Look at Judes middle distance stare in the second pic, he cant stop acting.

I too love Sherlock Holmes as a character. I love the books and I can’t wait to see Downey and Law take to the screen as directed by Guy Ritchie! Very excited about this one. Very!

Jude Law looks better suited to be Sherlock Holmes for me. I always imagined the character to be tall and lanky. Not too say that Downey is short and fat, but I just can’t see him as Sherlock.

I’m probably the only one, but I think Downey and Law look really goofy in the promo pics I’ve seen so far. Maybe you need some pre-invested hype beforehand? I’ll just chalk it up to these being set shots and that Victorian fashion always looks hilarious to me.
