High School

Darjeeling1We have news today about a new independent drug comedy starring Adrien Brody and Michael Chiklis. The name of the picture is High School (get it?) and we get the following scoop thanks to Variety via the movieweb:

According to Variety, John Stalberg Jr. is directing from the screenplay he wrote with Stephen Susco (The Grudge).

The story is centered on a high school valedictorian who gets high with the school stoner and faces a drug test, then decides to get the entire school stoned so he can beat the test by making everyone fail. Brody will portray a drug dealer and Chiklis will play the school principal. Production will start Nov. 8 in Detroit.

I love that Oscar winner Adrian Brody will be slinging dime bags to high school kids in this film. As the film climaxes in a frenzied attempt to get everyone stoned he will no doubt move a lot of product, for the greater glory of Chron (Welland slang for marijuana).

A high school without a drug dealer is like a mermaid without a tail – it sucks. Many people start to experiment with narcotics in high school and it’s as much a rite of passage as getting your license and eating apple pie. Not everyone wants to dance with Lady j, and no one is saying a life is better or worse without her. I just know that some people sure like having her around on occasion, especially when shit gets intimate.

This sounds like a high school drug comedy with promise and i’ll be sure to keep you posted on the details.

  1. I’m Straightedge and have never found the humour in “DRUG” films… having said that… I don’t feel I have any right to deny people who do find it funny, for whatever! reason, the chance to enjoy the life they want to lead and the comedic films that might mirror their life choices.

  2. Honestly, I’m getting pretty sick of stoner films. I’ve grown up, pot just isn’t funny anymore. I watched half baked the other day and I didn’t even giggle at it. Maybe it is because I live in Vancouver and the whole taboo just isn’t there anymore really. What do you folks think? Do you think it’s funny because it is illegal?

  3. Finally, shit is starting to happen in my part of the world. Ever since our Governor made a bill for tax incentive breaks in film/media entertainment services we’ve been having more and more movies being made in our area. I am glad. Michigan is really in need of more of this kind of work and could really use some of the wealth that is amass in the Hollywood area. Bring the work and the play our way… WHoo-HOO!
