Holy Poster Day! We have a German poster for The Day The Earth Stood Still for you to check out today thanks to our friends at IESB:
This poster sucks. It would be good if it was for the film “The Day The Giant Face Ate The Horizon.” In German that would be loosely translated to Der Tag aß das riesige Gesicht den Horizont (by Babblefish). Sadly, this is not the title of the film. If I was German I would feel great insult for receiving this poster.
The German people are sorry about Hitler, enough time has passed, give them better.
This poster is only acceptable for the sale of skin care products.

To correct the Babblefish-Translation, this is the correct Translation: „Der Tag, an dem das riesige Gesicht den Horizont aß“… and yes, the Poster sucks ;)
Other websites just say “here’s a new poster”. Not Doug Nagy:)

poster is pretty much a huge failure. Massive face….so massive you really can’t even tell it is Keanu Reeves. Which seems like the whole reason you would make a poster with a huge face would be to sell the audience on the big name star they got. I guess that is why they had to go ahead and put his name real big up top as well.

Totally off subject. Just that look (I’m not seeing a whole lot of Keanu) it reminds me of Patrick McGoohan (ok stretching a point here) from the Prisoner TV series? I will not be brief debriefed… Please don’t make this happen. Klaatu Keanu barada nikto dude
With all of his facial scarring Keanu looks more like Tommy Lee Jones. THis poster had a lot of work done on his face and I agree it sucks.
Keanu looks creepy as hell…I think it works well for a potentially creepy alien movie. I actually like the poster despite all the haters. It’s creepy as fuck. Keanu looks like some inhuman creature prepared to kill everyone. The face is huge, but that doesn’t bother me. I appreciate it’s strange proportion as it kind of reflects the whole alien nature of the film. Rock on.
Is it just me or does that look more like the face of Robert Patrick from Terminator 2 than it does Matrix boy?
It’s ok but really not very original. Looks exactly like the poster of Immortel (ad vitam)
