Frank Darabont Quits Law Abiding Citizen

Just a few short days ago Doug talked about Darabont’s Law Abiding Citizen, a suspense revenge flick with Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler.

Well Foxx and Butler were not confirmed but Darabont was. Yeah. Was. He is now said to have quit.

Movieweb reports:

Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption) has quit the Law Abiding Citizen production. There is no word on who will replace him.

No solid details on how this happened but if the rumours are true the deal got ugly and words were spoken, the last of which appear to be Darabont offering up “Take this job and shove it” (also speculation)

Frank Darabont wrote and directed one of my favourite all time dramas, the Shawshank Redemption. When I heard he was attached to this, I was more than willing to give it a chance. If he is in fact off this project than it too falls off my radar.

    Shawshank is one of my all time favorites also. But the only other movies I can think of that Darabont has made are The Green Mile and The Mist. Two very so-so movies, (I think Green Mile was way over rated). He certainly hasn’t pulled an M. Night Shyamalan but I am not automatically thrilled to hear he has a new project either.

    @Bla…. I didn’t quote the Dead Kennedys.

    “Take this job and shove it” is a Johnny Paycheck song from 1978 that the Kennedys covered.

    Shawshank is easily one of the greatest films of all time. However, the rest of his films are merely okay.
