Solitary Man

We have word today that Michael Douglas will play true to type as a sex pervert in Soliary Man. We get the following scoop from our friends at comingsoon:

Millennium Films has set Michael Douglas to play a car magnate with a runaway libido in Solitary Man, reports Variety. Susan Sarandon, Danny DeVito and Jenna Fischer are in talks to co-star.

Brian Koppelman and David Levien are directing a script written by Koppelman. Production begins in November in New York. Douglas plays a former owner of a car dealership chain whose career and marriage were destroyed by his business and romantic indiscretions.

I wish Danny DeVito was directing this. I like the premise for this one and would have liked to see DeVito take the helm here. He has his own directing style and I am quite fond of it; especially his usage of the split screen.

This cast is outstanding. We have an ensemble that on paper – should make for quite a comedy. Mikey Douglas is rumored to have been quite the ladies man before settling down with the Zeta Jones. As the story goes, he saw her in a film, said “thats the prettiest girl in the world” had his people call her people and sealed the deal. Mr. Douglas is a closer; no steak knives for him. This role fits him like a glove and I am excited to see this one come to fruition.
