How to Be Single; The Movie

Drew-Barrymore-Picture-2Drew Barrymore and Sex And The City Author Liz Tuccillo are teaming up for a film adaptation of her book How to Be Single. We get the scoop from the romance caves of yahoo:

The creative team behind the upcoming romantic comedy “He’s Just Not That Into You” is teaming up again for another laugh-infused romance. New Line has picked up the rights to former writer “Sex and the City” writer Liz Tuccillo’s best-selling novel “How to Be Single” for Drew Barrymore’s production company.

The book follows the dating lives of five single New York women, one of whom, the narrator, is writing a book about how bachelorettes across the world manage. The woman embarks on a trip around the world for the book and gets involved in an international affair, while her four friends duke it out on the New York dating scene. The book was published in June.

This sounds like Sex And The City +1. I understand that the same writer is involved, I’m just wondering how many single women variants are going to hit the theatre from the source of her pen. I would like to see the same writer take on the institution of marriage and write a story bout one that is successful. We see lots of films about people getting married, or looking for a mate, but not many romantic comedies about people who have already tied the knot. We have lots of shitty sitcoms about marriage, but few funny films. Then again, with over 50% of marriages ending in divorce – maybe this is a tough sell.

If any of you have read the book “How to Be Single” please fill us in on your thoughts. Are you excited to see the film? Does the book have a life of its own; or is it too much like Sex And The City?

I have read this book and absoultly loved it. It definatly would make a great movie. much better than the recently released “hes just not that into you” also co written by Liz. These type of movies have a huge demand these days as so many people are these days living a independant life an no longer want to watch the typical boy mets girl lovely dovey films.

  3. Laurel says:

The book is lovely and hopeful. Not to give anything away, but it is a very positive take on not giving up if one is still single in late 30′s. Truly fun, yet lots of depth to how men and women interact. Can’t wait to see it.

Sounds like it’ll be another Barrymore fest of suckage. She’s turned out some dogs with fleas the last several years.

It has to be a tough sell because even the retarded rom coms are dragging at the Box Office. I think the movie you could reference was Dick and Jane, that was a wife and husband combo. Also, how may movies do we have to watch about Sex & The City, that was a great movie based off the series, why ruin it with another. Oh. I almost forgot there is one, it called Sex & City 2? No? Anyway, She Just not that into you, really wasn’t that funny. Just the partial boob shot of SJ was the best part.
