I don’t know how long this has been out there, and the term TEASER hasn’t been more accurate. Dammit I wanna see more so I can form an opinion!! Right now, all I have is that it looks like Blade Runner crossed with Speed Racer. I don’t like saying that about my cherished Gatchaman. Blade Runner=cool. Speed Racer=not cool.
John’s animated childhood was more in the camp of Starblazers/Space Battleship Yamato, but mine was strongly fixated on Battle of the Planets, which we just called GForce. It wasn’t until an updated animated feature was brought out that I knew it as Gatchaman. The updated film was SERIOUSLY cool. It took a lot of the campiness of the original and stylized it so that 5 genetically modified teenagers in various vehicles dressed as birds looked HOT.
I can’t wait to see more. Please dont suck!!
I actually was looking forward to speed racer BECAUSE of the hot look… but the rest of it was just too “trying to be a cartoon” that it threw me off it. The cars and tracks looked amazing.
But now that the hyper neon look has been associated with such a craptastic movie, I can’t help but worry when I see something that reminds me of it.
But this is a teaser and didnt show much of anything… so I can only hope.
Dude, you are way to hard on speed racer. My friend and I watched it on blue ray the other day and it was great. Even if you don’t enjoy the acting or story it still looks amazing.

I crave more Speed Racer, but this will probably be more in the vein of TMNT, which I also crave, so it’s all good.
Never heard of Gatchaman, and the Wiki entry doesn’t really make sense to me, so I’ll have to wait and see what this is about.
