Iron Man 2 Underway; Release Date Proclaimed

Iron ManIt looks like Mr. Favreau has begun to spin the script for Iron man 2, and we can expect it in 2010! We get the following skinny from our friends at moviesonline:

Iron Man was really a surprise hit this summer and pulled in about a half a billion dollars. We definitely knew it was going to be big but nowhere near as big as it ended up being. So of course after the release sequel talks have been coming out all over. Today the LA Times spoke with Jon Favreau:

I just talked to Jon Favreau a bit ago, and he said that while there hasn’t been an formal announcement on the sequel to “Iron Man,” he’s begun developing it. “We’re working on it now,” he said, “which hasn’t been officially announced. It will be released in 2010.” Marvel and Paramount have even set a date for the sequel to be released on April 30th, 2010.

I loved Iron Man and am pumped for more. April 2010 isn’t that far away and I think it’s great that they are making haste to build on the momentum created by the first. I would like to see some War Machine action in the second installment and see two robot exoskeletons fighting side by side.

Robert Downey Jr. was also an outstanding Tony Stark and it’ s cool to see him using his exceptional talent in a film that ‘s enjoyed by so many. If anyone deserves a franchise like this; it is he.

Mark the date down on your calendars kids, and I will see you in line.

  1. Iron Man rocked !!!!!!

Now my problem with a sequel……who will be the villain???????

In order to have a great Super Hero movie, you need a great Villain.

  2. Marvel must make sure its as good as the first or better. nothing less. and always, they need to think on how to have the 2nd story arc and leave some room for the third n so forth. Also, it has to have the events that leads up to The Avengers (definitely, duh.)

I’m excited on how Marvel is introducing the Avengers characters individually, looking forward to how the films are connected to each other.

As far as the date goes, i’m cool with it, just don’t change the damn date a day before its supposed to be, and say its gonna be push back a millennia .. :p

  3. That’s not too long, Slayer. Thats about two years from the release from the first film. Not too long ago, I believe Favs didn’t like the two year window and wanted three. It looks as if that has been all worked out. There’s just one small thing.

    APRIL????

Something wrong with May or June?!
