Shia LaBeouf Arrested For Drinking And Driving Accident – Douche Bag

By John - July 28, 2008 - 07:46 America/Montreal

Shia-LaBeouf-DUI.jpgShia LaBeouf has been arrested after an accident this morning literally about a 5 minute walk from my place. First of all, let me say that I have been a Shia LaBeouf fan. I really like this guy’s work up till now. Even when he’s been given crappy roles, he somehow almost makes something out of them and I really respect a guy (especially this young in his career) who can do that.

Ok, now the facts as reported by CNN:

Shia LaBeouf was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Sunday after an early morning wreck in which the “Indiana Jones” star injured his hand and knee, authorities said. LaBeouf faces DUI charges after being injured in a car accident in Hollywood, California, Sunday. LaBeouf was trying to make a left turn at a West Hollywood intersection around 3 a.m. when his pickup collided with another vehicle, rolling the truck over, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Wolf said.

“It was immediately apparent to officers responding on the scene that LaBeouf was intoxicated and he was subsequently placed under arrest,” Wolf said.

Ok, now let me begin my little rant. Shia LaBeouf belongs in jail. Plain and simple. You drink and then get behind the wheel of a car, you’re basically pointing a gun into a crowd and pulling the trigger… the only difference is that when you shoot into a crowd you get punished and thrown in jail even if you fail to hit anyone.

When you drive after drinking, you’re basically saying “fuck you, your life and health are totally meaningless to me” to everyone else on the road.

Look, if the only danger of drinking and driving was that the idiot doing it only kills themselves, then I’d have no problem with it. Stupid asshole wants to drive himself off a cliff because he wants to save the $40 cab fare? That’s his decision. But most of the time these mother fuckers run into OTHER PEOPLE, like what LaBeouf did this morning.

La Brea and Fountain (the intersection where the “accident” occurred) is literally just around the corner from my place. I drive through that intersection all the time. Bloody Transformers boy could have hit ME, or Doug, or one of my friends on their way here to see me, and this fucking asshole decides that he’s so important that risking the lives of OTHER PEOPLE is worth it so he can drive his big pickup truck home. Fuck you LaBeouf.

A few years ago a friend of mine who was a beautiful and athletic young woman (that was dating another friend of mine that I worked with) got hit by a someone who was drinking. When I went to the hospital to see her the next day, I couldn’t even recognize her… the glass has shaved up her face pretty badly and most of the bones in her arms and legs had been broken. She went through 7 surgeries and months and months of painful rehab to get somewhere close to normal again (her athletic dreams and joys were permanently taken away from her though due to too much damage done to both her wrists). So what did the person who did that to her get? NOTHING. Not 1 day in jail. They pointed a gun into a crowd and pulled the trigger, and just happened to hit my friend… they made the CHOICE to drink and drive… they made the CHOICE to pull that trigger and they got away with it. They nearly killed my friend, changed her life forever, and they got NOTHING for punishment.

We live in a culture where you can go to jail for not doing your taxes right… but you can disregard the safety of everyone else around you, nearly kill them… and get nothing. People need to be held accountable for their choices, not just the lucky or unlucky results of those choices. LaBeouf could have KILLED the people he hit with his pickup truck last night. He’s just lucky he didn’t… and so will walk without so much as a slap on the wrist. What the fuck is wrong with us?

Preach it John – have some gd respect for yourself and others. Its not like the guy can’t afford a driver or cab in the first place.

  2. Michael says:

A few years back one of these assholes succeeded in killing my close friend. I agree with every word you say.

  3. darkbhudda says:

Got to agree. Though I will add the same laws apply to non-drunk drivers. With a car or a motorbike you have the legal right to deliberately run someone down and kill them, and the law will let you get away with it or sometimes they may give you a token fine of a couple of hundred dollars. It’s disgusting.

  4. melbye says:

Drunk drivr are scum.I saw a episode of Oprah once where there was this family who was a victimof a drunk driver. Lon story short the family’s youngest got decapitaded. Drink drivers should get at least one year in prison, life if someone dies

  5. Robert(wolf) says:

I agree 100% John. I also think once you pull shit like this drunk, you shouldn’t be aloud to drink ever again. And if you get caught with drink, BANG jail, baby, jail and a large fine.

  6. GleepWurptheEyeBiter says:

How many times do you and Doug have to mention the fact that famous people like douche boy here are RICH…HAVE YOUR LIMO PICK YOU UP. He’ll get let off with basically a warning which will further the belief that drinking and driving is acceptable. Throw the hammer down, throw him in jail start showing people that this type of behavior is unacceptable.
Didn’t a read an article a bit back where Shia got was charged for trespassing and they believed he was drunk … oh ya

  7. nautica says:

    well said john!

  8. Steve L says:

It’s a damn shame to see labeouf go down this road. There seems to be a pattern growing and all too similar to other actors I despise in above the law “Hollywood” if you’re an actor or famous. A damn shame because I like the guy as an actor but I completely and wholeheartedly agree with you. Put his ass in jail!

  9. probitionate says:

    Good rant. I agree.

    However…

Beyond the ‘drinking and driving’ issue is something far more powerful, something that is proven almost every time a DUI/DWI case comes up in just about any courtroom anywhere:

    The Sanctity Of The Automobile.

Probably the worst thing you could propose in this society is to remove someone’s driving privileges. I don’t know how many times I’ve read about someone who’s been charged multiple times, still being allowed to drive.

This, to me (a driver but non-owner) is at the heart of it all. Not just drinking-and-driving, but actually, how our society is designed, how our communities are designed, the struggle to make mass-rapid transit a sexy alternative, pollution, our dependency on petroleum products, etc. And ya know what? As much as people may agree that driving while intoxicated is wrong, they’re generally up in arms if you talk about rescinding licenses.

Kinda reminds me of the right to bear arms in America.

Until our value system is no longer predicated on the automobile, nothing will change enough to make a difference.

  10. Cal says:

I agree 100% John. Drunk drivers belong in jail, period. Sadly, as he is famous he will get off with a slap on the wrist. Matthew Broderick was fucking responsible for the deaths of 2 people and all he got a $175 dollar careless driving fine.

  11. Rodney says:

But he is a celebrity. He will get off on this and smile for his mug shot.

Its a shame. I really thought this guy was a genuinely nice fella. Maybe he is. Just a stupid genuinely nice fella. Someone too stupid to spend a tiny shred of his millions to call a cab.

Someone would make a good living there offering a drive home service for celebrities. There seems to be a demand for it. They could even have a partner driver who takes home their car for them.

Throw the book at em. If it was ME who got caught there, they would bury me in charges without blinking an eye.

  12. George says:

What a prick. Maybe the asshole thought Bumblebee was actually driving his car. Douche should get time but wont, take his license (never going to happen).

He’ll get splashed all over the tabloids, make a public apology and drive home. Motherfucking justice for ya.

  13. Erick says:

John, i agree with every essence of my being…. think this news will effect the release of Eagly Eye? or does that movie not really have a chance?

  14. Jason says:

    “Drunk drivr are scum”
Actually everyone drunk is scum (that’s why 99,9% of humanbeings are worthless shit)

  15. Schreibvieh says:

Though I agree with this rant in general, i still think that you should not judge a person by the mistakes they make, but by the way they deal with these mistakes afterwards. So give the guy a chance.

  16. T-Vo says:

the guy is like 21 yrs old or something, drinking and driving is stupid but what smart decisions do young people make? He made a mistake, and luckily no one was seriously injured. So get over it and stop talking so much shit about the kid, he’s still growing up and lacks the so called wisdom you have by putting your opinions online and deleting opinions you don’t agree with. He will learn and eventually become a better person for it. We all did stupid things and made bad decisions when we were his age, perhaps not this exact things but you know you all have something in your closet. So he without sin cast the first stone, if not, STFU.

  17. Moe says:

    Hey Rodney…

I think there’s a service available in LA (maybe everywhere too) called “Home Jeeves.”

Basically, you call the service and someone drives to your location on a folding motorbike. They fold the bike, stick in the trunk of the car and drive the car and its owner home.

Once there, they take the bike out of the trunk, unfold it and are off on their merry way.

But, it really doesn’t matter. If he’s only going to get off with a warning and a fine, why bother? I think in Hollywood (this is only my opinion), no judge wants to be the first one to make an example of somebody.

Seriously, Nicole Richie was in jail for 48 minutes, or Lohan in jail for 6 hours (something like that)…there is no deterrent at all.

  18. Chris Garcia says:

OMG Did he learn nothing from Disturbia lol

  19. T-Vo says:

First of all, very rarely do you do jail time for a 1st time DUI. If you don’t have an attorney, event he public defender will get you out of jail by Monday morning. 1st time DUI’s typically suspend your license and you pay hefty fines.

  20. YET another case of a young actor who has way to much, way to soon! No excuse for his behavior.Drunk driving is pathetic! What we wouldn’t do for this guy’s success. It seems very few young celebrities can keep there head on straight!

  21. Well, perhaps it is a good thing that nobody was seriously injured or killed. Perhaps it is also a good thing that within a day or so, LaBeouf will learn from this boneheaded move and realize how close he may have been to causing harm to others and/or himself.

I agree the DUI laws are not as stiff as they should be, especially when it comes to “young Hollywood”, who instead of being punished get a pass and don’t learn from past errors. Is it really going to take a dead body to wake these people up?

And when I say “punished” I don’t mean two hours of county lockup. I don’t mean forced community service (which was great in its day but has since become a mockery of itself and should be abolished concerning celebs) and I **certainly** don’t mead two weekends of pampering at Celeb Camp Rehab, coming and going when *they* want.

    Here’s what I’m talking about:

    1) Actor should admit he messed up and that he has a drinking problem; he/she should check in to a treatment center upon being released from lockup (assuming no injuries/deaths were involved) and stay there until the arraignment.

    2) They should take whatever punishment given to them, be it light or harsh and not whine like a bitch if it is harsh and definitely not whine like a bitch if it is light (looking at you, Paris).

    3) If deaths and/or injuries are involved, they should get the same treatment/punishment as non-celebs get. Joe Doe DUI’s and kills another driver or dude on the sidewalk and gets fined and gets tossed in jail for five to ten years? Then if a celeb DUIs and kills some people should also get the same penalty. If jails are crowded, find anther lockup. Even if it is minimum security. Just as long as they are not on the road, air or sea. Give them a few years or more to know the errors of their ways.

    4) Movie roles should be recast. As far as I’m concerned, any talent who abuses drugs and/or alcohol is an increased risk to the production. Yes, you heard me right. Film roles should be subject to forfiet. While on set, refuse any actor (or crew member) any perks dealing with booze. Also, should they party all night and are late for work as a result, go public like James Robinson and call them out. Better yet, if it is early in the shoot or the scenes with said actor had just started filming fire them. Better to lose an actor early instead of midway to near completion and they screw the film up by wrapping themselves and the Lexus around a phone pole.

No, you aren’t seeing things. I wrote that, I damn well mean it. If these celebs are going to get away with a slap on the wrist, then I stand by with what I just said: NO community service, mandatory rehab that IS NOT celeb based/country club AND a potential loss of upcoming work.

It is time to strike fear in the mindsets of these celebs who pull this crap in a language they can easily understand. If they had any true fans, those fans would tell them to get their shit together or they will stop going to their films and buying their shit.

  22. vargas says:

I knew there was a reason I hated this pudding faced dummy. Now my hate is legit!

  23. tkt says:

i said it a lot of times .
bam the beef gring the round!
oww indy 4 is already gone?
ahh… then just bam the beef!

  24. Roguepirate says:

I remember Shia being very adamant about not being one of those celebrities always hitting the clubs, getting busted for DUI’s, and in general being paparazzi fodder. Apparently it’s not working out too well.

  25. Obi-Wan Kubrick says:

I just read an article where he said he was quiet and lived a boring life and wouldn’t end up like other young celebs like Spears or Lohan. Oh well.

  26. Steven C. says:

I can’t stand these mother fuckers who decide to drink and drive. They should be shot in the fucking head for putting innocent peoples lives at risk.

  27. finaljoe says:

The worse thing about it is LeDouche is trying to act like the victim, saying the cops are looking to arrest him for anything!

  28. mixmastajb says:

Fucking drunk drivers. I can’t stand them. You’re right, John, he should be in jail. It’s the fact that he’s a fucking actor thats keeping him out of the big house

  29. finaljoe says:

He compared it to lighting up a cigarette!

  30. Chris says:

I read the headline “Shia LaBoeuf in DUI” somewhere else this morning and thought it was another movie.

  31. Bruce79 says:

John, I totally agree with you.

  32. jeff says:

I disagree with you on one point john, “I really like this guy’s work up till now.” While I agree with you on drunken driving being totally stupid and he should go to jail, that does not discredit his ability as an actor. Are you going to say an actor sucks becuase of something they did you dont like? He IS a good actor, he IS a jackass for driving drunk. Being a drunk driver does not mean you are a bad actor, it means your judgment needs an overhaul.
    so to recap,
Shia is still a good actor
But he is also an idiot.

  33. Andrew says:

    Hey John,

Does this mean that you have lost all interest to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen next year?

  34. John says:

    Hey Andrew,

That’s a fair question to ask. But as I always say, I try to separate the on screen from the off screen. Over 1000 people are working on Transformers 2, Shia is just one of them.

I said the same thing about Mel Gibson and his DUI.

  35. Dragonslayer says:

    Oh, great. Another Lohan.

  36. Kristina says:

He is goddamn lucky that he didn’t kill someone.

  37. Christian says:

Somebody please take the keys away from these idiots. They might run over John or even worse………Doug.

  38. Javi-LHP says:

Another actor with a drinking problem. I can understand that anyone with a great fame can be overtaked, but it isn’t an excuse to drive without control and druk.

  39. PhoenixP3K says:

Drunk driving is still being treated too lightly… Still I don’t believe that because he’s a movie star that he should get bashed more than all the other drunk dumb*sses that roam the streets.

Don’t drink and drive. STICK IN YOUR HEAD!

  40. eanetdude says:

Maybe Michael Bay will use the wrecked truck in Transformers 2, as a physically retarded Autobot.

  41. joonavar says:

Cere – I hate to burst your bubble there, but comparing drink driving with shooting a loaded gun into a crowd is fairly comparative. Shooting a gun into a crowd is not a certainty that you will kill someone, let alone injure a person, but there is a pretty good chance that shoot enough times then something will happen eventually. Likewise, stick a person behind a wheel who is over the legal drinking limit and sooner or later they will cause a fatality or seriously injure someone. It is not as far removed a comparison as you think. I don’t know anyone who would not see drinking driving as dangerous an act as waving a loaded gun around. Both are acts which require very little morality and zero foresight. You get in a car whilst intoxicated and you WILL end up seriously injuring yourself, someone else, or killing someone. It’s not that different to shooting a weapon. Let’s not be too pedantic now.

  42. Jon says:

He should be severly punished for this. But I bet nearly everyone here including the OP has driven under the influence before. Its wrong, but we all do it. Hypocrasy is wrong too.

  43. Sahil says:

    You are 22.
Have all the money you could want.
More popular then you could ever imagine.
    And what do you do?
I know, lets go drinking and driving!
    IDIOT!

This is not first time he has gotten in trouble with the law and I have a feeling it wont be the last.
This kid has a huge career in front of him and I hope for his sake that he doesnt screw it up.

  44. mrjuju says:

I know the topic is dead by now, but they just announced that LaBeouf was NOT at fault for the accident. It seems the other car blew a red light and smashed into him…

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080729/ap_en_ot/people_labeouf

  45. bjon86 says:

damn. that’s deep John. you live by la brea and fountain? that’s crazy. I live right by there too. Anyways, yea, I respected the shit outa labeouf. why’d he have to do that shit? damn.

  46. allheavens says:

Driving after drinking alcohol is not illegal. Driving while impaired or intoxicated is illegal.

He was booked on suspicion of DUI. No breathalyzer test was administered at the scene of the accident because any injuries are attended to first. But a blood test was surely administered at the hospital.

So let’s wait for the blood test results before we start burning the kid in effigy.

  47. BamBamAlakazaam says:

    QUIT DRINKING. nuff said.

  48. Dragonslayer says:

    Totally true.

  49. Pwning some noobs says:

In the early morning hours of July 27, 2008, authorities arrested LaBeouf on misdemeanor drunk driving charges in Los Angeles, after the actor was involved in a car collision in which he injured his hand. His passenger (Isabel Lucas) and another driver also suffered minor injuries. Two days later, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman announced that La Beouf was not at fault in the accident, saying that the other driver had run a red light.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Baltimore_Sun

    You’re condemning the wrong person.

  50. John says:

    Hey PWNING SOME NOOBS

    You said:

    “You’re condemning the wrong person.”

No, Shia is still the one who drank then drove. My rant on his wasn’t about the accident, it’s about the attitude that he’s more important than everyone else alive and it’s ok for him to drink then put everyone else’s life at risk by driving.

Mel Gibson never hit anyone nor had any accident last year when he was arrested for DUI, and I said the exact same thing about him. GO TO JAIL. You choose to put people’s lives at risk, then you should go to jail. Period.

  51. Boo says:

You’re slamming him for something he hasn’t even been found guilty of. Did you know I stumbled on this blog via a Google search for Shia Lebeouf? You think DUI is a big deal? How about slander? Why not wait until he’s found guilty before you begin tearing him down?

    :)

    • John says:

      Hey Boo,

Look up the police report. It’s available. he was found DUI. There’s no if’s and’s or but’s about it. He was drinking, then drove.
